[Project Review] That Man Santiago – Nightlife Fifty-Five

that man santiago 1[CHICAGO, IL] After working over a year to finalize, That Man Santiago has recorded and mixed his latest project Nightlife Fifty-Five at Soundscape Studios. Embracing his environment, the inspiring upcoming artist from Chicago created an honest project on a person’s thoughts before and after hitting the night life in their city. The ambience of Nightlife Fifty-Five definitely provides those night vibes.

According to That Man Santiago “During the length of the tape I travel between thoughts of “turning up” and not worrying about the consequences, to thinking about the repercussions of my actions. The tape touches upon the idea that we are all filled with contradictions; however those contradictions are what help us learn and grow as people.” Now let’s take a chill pill and ride out with my review on That Man Santiago’s project Nightlife Fifty-Five. I’ll be discussing my favorites off the eleven track project. Which are:

that man santiago[NIGHTLIFE] Where we start off with this track, if feels like you’ve been dancing at the club, already about 2:30am. The music sets a seductive vibe while That Man Santiago sets the mood for his club banger, while he’s talking to the girl he wants to take home.

[SNOW TRACKS] At the beginning of the track we get the weather news report that discuss the heavy snow that we’ll be arriving throughout the night, expected 10 feet of snow. Too cold to go outside and too much snow to deal with. That Man Santiago lets you know what he’s up to on this winter track.

[WHAT DO YOU KNOW] On this track That Man Santiago gets a bit rough when he finds out someone’s talking when they don’t know nothing about him. He’ll laugh it off at the beginning but if it persists he’s going to have to handle his.

[SOME DAYS] I feel that if you’re dealing with a relationship that you find yourself wanting to leave them, fix things, walk away, or stay forever. The emotions of trying to get yourself together and your significant other trying to do the same, but yet the balance may not be right. It’s either work things out or have it all come to an end, but will that day be today?

[OCARINA] At times it feels best to get with the past, with something that’s ocarina-of-time-linkfamiliar. But according to time you just can’t. It’s all about moving forward and staying focus. But it seems to be That Man Santiago is getting distracted by Ocarina. I really felt as if she was real, so I had to ask and look what I found out:

NikkiSiixx: Who’s Ocarina?
That Man Santiago: Ocarina is more of a metaphore than a person. Its based of the game “Ocarina of Time” from Zelda lol. In the game, the Ocarina was a flute that could make a person travel through time. In the song, “Ocarina” stands for me wanting to go back in time and fix things I’ve done. But towards the end of the song, during the second verse, I realize that you can’t move forward when you’re chasing the past.

[REASON (BONUS)] This track actually surprised me considering the overall sound from the previous songs. Surprised me in a very good way. I like how diverse That Man Santiago demonstrates he’s styles and how melodic he can become. And what a romantic! This track is meant for the ladies. This would have to be my favorite track off the entire project.

This concludes my project review on Nightlife Fifty-Five with hip-hop artist That Man Santiago. The project exhibits feelings of emotions when it comes to some affairs that take place at night. It’s kinda like people get influence by the night life and dealing with those problems in the morning. I find the project to have a great story to tell and great listens.

If you’re diggin’ the project as much as I am, please download your copy at THATMANSANTIAGO.COM all you need to do is provide your email address and the tape is yours. Also, follow That Man Santiago on his social media outlets to get an update on what’s coming up next.

[Project Review] Samurai Shin VS Xia-Dawn

samurai shin vs xia-dawn comic artWhat a way to bring together hip-hop and comics with what Co-creator/Executive Producer Mikel.M from Toronto Canada and Producer/Artist Xia-Dawn from Miami, FL did on their collaborative mixtape called SAMURAI SHIN VS XIA-DAWN. When you get your free download of Samurai Shin VS Xia-Dawn you get two new comic strips from “Samurai Shin” Episode 1 Web Comic Book. The mixtape also features from P.Soul, Kuro Silence, Mikel.M, Tripstyle, AJB4 & Voice Over Actor “LeQan Bennett”. Music inspired by comics and anime, my favorite elements to combine on a project.

Samurai Shin is inspired from two anime shows like Samurai Champloo and Afro Samurai, with main characters Amir and Keith. Mikel.M will be writing out the comic and talented artist Ivan Earl Aguilar from the Philippines will be working on the art. With Xia-Dawn being a fan of anime and hip-hop he couldn’t miss out the opportunity to work on this project.

The seven track mixtape brings us some instrumentals and some dope tracks. With my review, I’ll be going over which ones are my favorites. They are: Brand New Day, Combat, Samurai Shin, All Flows Reach Out, and I Be That.

samurai shin vs xia dawn [BRAND NEW DAY] This track really captured my attention, reason why because if I was a lyricist or femcee I would of taken this beat and make a hit with it. Xia-Dawn executed the beat perfectly.

[COMBAT] I find this instrumental to be so motivating. It also reminds me of a Quentin Tarantino film. Seriously! You can’t tell me no. And a bit of Mortal Kombat inspiration with those “fight” and “finish him” being said throughout the track.

[SAMURAI SHIN] I really like how grimy/street style with this track, it even sounds like we’re in a cypher with Tripstyle. His flow is classic. Definitely represents the essence of 90’s hip-hop.

[ALL FLOWS REACH OUT (A.F.R.O)] To put into words how I feel about this track, it’s what I liked to call “groovy, baby”. I love the smooth vibes produced by Kuro Silence. This instrumental brings a lot of positive energy. I’ll definitely play this at a party for sure.

[I BE THAT (SAMURAI)] AJB4 takes Samurai Shin’s story to life with his track that hits topic from the comic. You gotta be careful who you’re messing with cause they can easily take your life especially if they’re a Samurai.

samurai shin vs xia dawn 3This concludes my project review on Samurai Shin VS Xia-Dawn. The 7 track mixtape really provides a fun time while still embracing hip-hop and anime. While listening to the project look at the comic strips provided. You can feel this music really coming out from the sketches. Love the art of music and in the arts.

EP Review: Kojazz – JaZZ Daniels

[NEW YORK] After having Kojazz made his appearance on the NikkiJoMazing Couch, then releasing his Change The Subject EP, and constantly working with his other affiliates from the iLLustrious group. Currently, KoJazz released another collective project entitled the Jazz Daniels EP. The nine track EP is solely produced by Solidified. According to KoJazz “Journey through 30 minutes of liquored up tunes and cheers to good times sponsored by shots of good ol’ Jazz Daniels…Listen Responsibly”. And that’s what I’m planning on doing, I’ll be reviewing the project and pick out my favorite tracks.

[HONEY ON THE ROCKS] This track definitely sets the mood right and demonstrates a night of influence. Kojazz is setting the tone over this sweet Solidified beat. Kojazz is very descriptive and describes heading to a bar and fighting his demons. His flow lands perfectly with the beat. kojazz music

[THE BREWERY] Kojazz collaborates with JuG the ILLEST and Rell Burgundy. This track sets the mood for the afterparty. Everyone has bars and I think its pretty dope there’s a Flash line hidden in the track. The hook is mad catchy! THE BREWERY can definitely be played at clubs I can sense the crowd to really be feeling this one.

[POUR DECISIONS INTERLUDE] After a night of binge drinking, you can only imagine the poor decisions you’ll make under the influence. One of them like driving under the influence. I really like the samples and skit at the end. Showing you the effects of driving drunk and getting pulled over.

[ALCOHOL POISONING] I feel like this is the climax track to the Jazz Daniels EP. Everyone on the track Christyle, MeRCY, and Kojazz get rowdy on this one. I really like Christyle’s verse, she’s brining it to the table.

[GENTLEMEN JAZZ] time to slow down the night and unwind with Kojazz and YoAmanduh. Even though Kojazz may seem tough but he can get romantic on the track. YoAmanduh brings that late night vibes with her sultry voice. Nice way to end the 30 minute journey.

kojazz 1This concludes my review on Kojazz’s Jazz Daniel’s EP. Shoutout to everyone who was apart of the project Solidified, Bishop, MeRCY, Rell Burgundy, JuG the ILLest, Christyle, & yoAmamduh. If you’re diggin’ the EP as much as I am, you gotta follow and stay in the loop with Kojazz.

Album Review: Jamal G – To Whom It May Concern 2 – Final Draft

[BALTIMORE CITY, MD] After Jamal G’s debut on NikkiSiixx when we played his track If You Need That, and when I had an exclusive interview with him. Currently, Jamal G has released his album To Whom It May Concern 2: Final Draft. The album is a fourteen track in-depth story of Jamal.

[SCATTEREDBRAINED] Jamal G really opens up on the first track on the album. One thing that really stands out to me is his flow, and the genuine soul expressing himself the best way he can. Through his music! Jamal G even touches topics like working hard in achieving his goals, passed relationships, and he even talks about watching his own mother Oding. This is a really dope track! Get to know Jamal G.

[THESE WINGS] In a previous interview with Jamal G, I asked him what inspired this track and he said “These Wings was just something inspired by the space I was in at the time. I didn’t have a real direction for the album but I knew I wanted to make a statement for my community. I sent it to Husky and he wrote the hook and it was just on from there“. This song has to be one of my favorites from the project. From the production, and Jamal’s flow, it leaves you wanting more. Good thing this is just the second song of the album, here we go!

p1777326067-6[ARIEL’S LIFE IN HELL] Jamal G is one hell of a story teller, this track is focused on meeting someone and wanting to get to know them more. Its pretty dope because Jamal G included a female vocal to give Ariel more life on this track. The chemistry between the two is hard not to deny it. And it’s a crazy twist to the story, you just got to hear it for yourself.

[LET IT BE ME] When investing in your time in someone who you feel everything could go right, but yet when you hear the other person’s true emotions can truly be heartbreaking. Jamal G expresses how he feels about someone who left him when he was completely unaware. Love can be blind at times, but hopefully going through with that, Jamal G can open his eyes and find true love.

[QUESTIONS 4 PAC] Have you ever felt compelled to ask questions or advice from people who are no longer here? This time Jamal G looks for more answers by asking Tupac some questions. Hopefully he’ll gain more knowledge on the experience. This track reminded me when Kendrick Lamar had an edited conversation with Tupac on his “To Pimp The Butterfly“. Who wouldn’t want to be able to ask questions to a legendary rapper who inspired so much with his music. Find out what Jamal G discovered with his talk.

[CELEBRATION] After everything Jamal G has gone through, its time to celebrate! Celebrate because we’re alive and we can always better ourselves. To Whom It May Concern 2: Final Draft was a way for Jamal G to get a lot of issues off his chest. I feel this track can be relevant to anyone who appreciates life and wants to keep living in a positive way.

p1847730871-6

Jamal G always felt he was never going to conform to the norm. Looking up to his siblings and loved ones as aspects to his outlook on society. Jamal cultivated a perspective that’s widely shared through his community. In 2010, Jamal released his first offering under his neighborhood alias, Blizz, entitled “To Whom It May Concern.” The project provided opportunities to open up for artist such as Marsha Ambrosius, Rick Ross, and a host of other artist.

Jamal G has a very mature tone over the entire project To Whom It May Concern 2: Final Draft. It’s been described as “Mood music for the long drive home.” Jamal recently finished touring around the world sharing the news about his new album, “I’ve never attempted to make music for self exemplification or popularity. Music is the most unselfish thing that I can offer to my people as a glimmer of some sort of hope. There’s pain, triumph, and faith all wrapped up in this new project, I just my generation take the time to live with it, so it can properly effect our lives.“.

2015-03-10_22.26.24

“TWIMC2 is a picture of hope. It describes the mind of an emotionally suppressed man from the Y and millennial generation trying to figure it all out. This can potentially be one of the best independent releases this year. The message I want to get across is that, hope is better than defeat, pain doesn’t just expose you’re vulnerability but you’re humanity, and everything will ultimately work out for those who have Faith”. – JAMAL G

If you’re diggin’ To Whom It May Concern 2: Final Draft make sure you support Jamal G by purchasing the project via these platforms.

EP Review: Cal Mobley x Dubby – The Climb

After we saw the visual to Cal Mobley x Dubby’s ANTE MERIDIEM, we finally get the collaborative EP called The Climb. With The Team Loko Movement they’ve been gaining momentum over the past year when they were releasing a handful of projects by Cal Mobley and Dubby. The chemistry between both artist really developed a certain sound/vibe that it was hard not to stop. It just seemed to make sense to unite on a joint project before dropping their biggest projects to date such as Cal Mobley’s “Medicine for Monsters” and Dubby’s with the “Heart & Havoc EP”. This time joining their talents on The Climb EP. I’ll be reviewing my favorite tracks off the project.

dubby cal mobley[THE CLIMB] Whenever anyone sets goals for themselves, they’ll be times it feels the climb to the top is brutal and they’ll be people trying to stop you move forward. Even people who you think are your friends, and find a way to backstab you while you’re on your way up. On this track the guys shows us they’re willing to surpass these obstacles. Produced by Runaway Muzic. I really like how Dubby is embracing his melodies and bringing his vocals to life. Cal Mobley takes over the second half of the track, and I’m diggin’ his flow.

[ANTE MERIDIEM] is that late night tip type of song, when partying all night and see when morning comes up. The house party with masks was pretty dope! Covering their identities and staying true to their niche. Love the shots and effects filmed by Bradley Atom, it fits perfectly with production by PØWELL. This would have to be one of m favorite tracks on the The Climb EP.

inertia cover[INERTIA] This track really embraces the whole dance/dub vibe with futuristic sounds by Canis Major. Speaking of futuristic Cal Mobley even has a line reference to a space ship. Cal’s flow is a bit slowed down but here’s where you can fully imagine what he has to say. Dubby’s hook and bridge is on point and makes me want to press repeat two times! Maybe, a little more. Definitely a fun track! I can see myself dance to this one.

[TRACKLISTING]
1. The Climb – Dubby (0:00-2:51) Cal (2:51-end)
2. Ante Meridiem – Cal (Hook 1 and 2 & Verse 1) Dubby (verse 2 and hook 3)
3. Whip Game – Dubby (Hook) Cal (Verse 1 & 2)
4. Inertia- Dubby (Hook and bridge) Cal (Verse 1 & 2)

cal mobley x hubby

The Climb features some select producers including Canis Major who will be reoccurring on Dubby’s H&H project, Runaway Muzic, The Cratez, and Powell. All Recording, Mixing, & Mastering done by Jason Shaffer (www.fulltiltrecording.com).

This concludes my review on The Climb EP by Cal Mobley x Dubby! Both artist display signs of growth and can’t wait to see what the TEAM LOKO MOVEMENT will be debuting next!

EP Review: GiZMO TAiLz – Mugiwara

gizmo tailz[MIAMI, FLORIDA] After making his debut on NikkiSiixx.com with his music video DON’T TURN AROUND, GiZMO TAiLz brings us his first solo project MuGiWara EP.

If you’re not to familiar with what a Mugiwara is, it’s actually means Straw hat. GiZMO TAiLz is an artist, director, editor, producer, and engineer. He’s even 1/2 Member of The Creative Duo RASKLz [PIZZV.LORDz]. This is not just your regular thirteen track EP. It would be safe to say it’s more like a dark experiment with house/techno with a dash of some hip-hop. You can say it’s an unfound sound in today’s music. For my review I’m going to break down my favorite tracks off the MugiWara EP, which are MuGiWara Awaken, UV RAY, Take Control, Don’t Turn Around, 6GOLDZ, Su-Zen-B [Heal], and Voyage [Filler].

UV RAY // MuGiWara Awaken have a visual along side the tracks. The tracks are really an introduction to thus the style and vibe GiZMO TAiLz demonstrates. In the Music Film, GiZMO has a very unknown and strange power, and a love for pizza. The video is extremely trippy, but cool in a sense. Inspired by anime Video Games And Real Life Situations. The Young PIZZVLORD Looks For a quick “Slice” and what new Powers he’s Awaken Between The 2D And Real World. As Gizmo Falls Into A Tranced State, his visions are becoming powered. Now on a mission to create a New Wave. Did he really find a ForBidden Pizzv Crest? Directed and Edited by GiZMO himself, and Fimed Co. Directed By eqobKING.

TAKE CONTROL – The vibes on this one remind me of Kid Cudi’s Man on The Moon: The End of Day. “Let The Music Take Control” is repeated throughout the track with some melodies. In a sense it’s kinda like putting you in a trance.

This ain’t your ordinary music video, this visual definitely grabs the title for unique and dope graphics. GiZMO TAiLz is an inspiring artist that creates music in many different forms of hip-hop and can tap into alternative house genres. His visual DON’T TURN AROUND begins at the start of a retro fighting video game that eventually turns into a real life ninja, who is set to get The Pizzv Crest. GiZMO TAiLz transforms into Ninja Formation and Fights Dragoro. The visual also takes place at this years Florida Supercon 2k15. DON’T TURN AROUND is a music video like no other and definitely sounds like something new. Gamers can enjoy this visual too.

6GOLDZ – Considering GiZMO TAiLz self-produced the entire project, you can find some really catchy melodies. I found it on this track 6GOLDZ. Very simple, but when he starts rapping about his 6 gold teeth, it goes really well on beat.

Su-Zen-B [Heal] Even though this track is only instrumentals you can really dig this clubby vibe, GiZMO is trying to bring to the table. Another good instrumental is Voyage [Filler]. If I was an artist, I would be interested in seeing about working on getting production from GiZMO TAiLz.

GAMER TIME – Transformers: Devastation || Hosted By @SpiegelDFE

Coming from the folks over at Platinum Games, Transformers: Devastation is something like a shot of straight adrenaline to your Xbox One or Playstation 4. The game is a wild ride from start to finish and has some of the slickest action and most popping visuals I’ve seen in a really long time.

It features an addictive battle system that I couldn’t stop playing. I kept saying “just one more mission” and would end up playing at least another three or four.

Screen 2

The game is an absolute joy to play because of its gameplay variety. I can’t recall feeling bored while playing this game and I never felt that there was only one way to solve a problem in front of me.

EP Review: JU$TIN – JUSTIN Designed THAT

JU$TIN_1[LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA] Originally from the Bronx, Hip-Hop/Rap Artist JU$TIN had an unfortunate experience with the LA County Jail system. He was fighting a felony charge for a month and half spending time behind bars. Luckily, he was released in time to graduate from Santa Monica College with honors. That experienced helped give enough inspiration to bring his first EP JU$T HU$TLE BxTxH: 3883076 to life and releasing his second EP $treet ART.

$treet ART was more like a throwback freestyle tape done over classic 90s NYC HipHop instrumentals. The title pays homage to the Graff culture and is a metaphor for how Street Artists tag their name onto other peoples property, which is what JU$TIN was doing by showing respect to a few classics by adding something new to it. JU$TIN released those two EP’s back in August of 2015 and now he presents us with his latest release JUSTIN Designed THAT EP. Making his debut on NikkiSiixx.com, I’m going to review my favorite tracks off the EP.

[LAPTOP 2 TRAPSPOT] When using your computer/laptop as a source of creating music, promoting yourself, and even making money off the internet. Your Laptop is your trapspot. JU$TIN elaborates the Cali scene with the finest greens. I sense with this track you can hear the East Coast Influence with the beat production by @SeriousBeats.

Jackie-Joyner-Kersee-Artwork[JACKIE JOYNER KERSEE] With the opening statement of the track, it’s a woman’s voice that says “I think you learn so much from losing. I think-uh losing helps to keep things in perspective, helps you to evaluate what went wrong, and why was it that you came up short”. I find that quote to be empowering. JU$TIN says this is an anthem dedicated to all the money chasers that we face. The title is names over the legendary Olympic Gold Medalist Jackie Joyner Kersee. This is actually the first single off the JUSTIN Designed THAT EP, produced by @TrapMafiaBeatz.

[LOVE ME] Was the first song JU$TIN recorded on Thanksgiving Day and after listening to it, he decided he wanted to release another project for Christmas and started gathering beats from various producers online. It took about three to four weeks to get JUSTIN Designed THAT EP to be complete. The track LOVE ME, is expressing how people can’t help but appreciate him as a person and as an artist. This track you can hear the West Coast influence in its production, brought to you by @DJRELLYRELL.

JU$TIN_4
[WORST DECISION EVER] JU$TIN goes in on his worst decision ever, which is dating someone who he wish he never met. The woman he was with decided to love someone else while JU$TIN was investing his time and emotions. He feels it has messed up his thought process. Hopefully, acknowledging what went wrong and learning from his mistakes.

“My writing process doesn’t consist of jotting rhymes down or typing into my mobile device, I construct the entire song in my head, w/ the hook being the first thing I record, and then I roll 1 up and vibe to the beat until the lyrics begin to come to me – JU$TIN

Besides being an artist, JU$TIN executes his visions through his graphic designs. He can draw, paint, and he even has a degree in Graphic Design plus a background in illustration from his time spent attending the High School of Art & Design in NYC. He even started his own clothing line. You can catch JU$TIN wearing it on the cover of JUSTIN Designed THAT EP, but you should check out his shop for some more graphic tees, crew neck sweaters, and pull over thermal hoodies that were personally designed by artist / designer JU$TIN.

EP Review: RealProperLike – Signs

realproperlike[MIAMI, FLORIDA] A poet expressing himself through his music, RealProperLike exhibits his five track EP signs as a form of creativity inspired by the South Florida community. With signs in was created by the spirit of Art Basel 2015. According to RealProperLike “The concept of “signs” is to creatively express a journey of thoughts ranging from acceptance, dropping jewels, art, life, and love as only I can paint it”. I’ll be reviewing my favorite tracks off RealProperLike’s signs EP and what is his lyrical art exhibit trying to display.

INFORMATION – RealProperLike is a philosopher and goes in-depth with information he wants to provide you. He even talks about being more grateful to everything in your life. And even sneaks in a history lesson in there. The way RealProperLike breaks it down you can image it in your mind. Very descriptive just like a story teller.

ART – One thing I really like about this track is the theatrical flow RealProperLike has when he’s reciting his lyrics. The Beat is dope as hell, it was executive produced by realproperlike, custom made @custom60625, serious beats @seriousbeats, and by the audio genius [kr]ypton @mrbandason. Recorded, mixed, and mastered at @fsstudiomiami/ @kingpinstation. This has to be my favorite track off the signs EP.

SLAVE – You gotta bob your head to this one. RealProperLike expresses the struggles of Black Lives Matter. When the beat drops it really makes your concentrate on his poetic flows. Embracing his roots and feeling liberated that him and his people are strong and they are no one’s property.

signs back cover

“A full time worker – part time poet/part time philosopher.
Who am I? A different type of thinker, a big kid with an old soul”. – RealProperLike

Signs is a proper prelude to further creativity, critique, and conversation as any art exhibit should provide. RealProperLike paints the picture, can you see it? Be on the lookout for more content from RealProperLike by following him on social media:

Ep Review: Chad Michael – Rain

Chad Michael Rain EP[LOS ANGELES] Making his debut on NikkiSiixx.com, the upcoming Arizona native emcee/singer Chad Michael has released his EP Rain. The six track collection of songs portray a compelling story-line from a man pursing his dreams. During 2014-2015, Chad Michael went to college and moved to Southern California to make a career in music.

Going through the experiences he endured and lesson’s learned, Chad Michael wanted to express this on the Rain EP. All produced by Oregon Producer Emotion Beats. They were able to work together and really give the feel of rain fall, because of the records up and downs. Throughout the 25 minute journey, how can you not relate to Chad Michael. My favorite tracks of the Rain Ep are Evolution, Different, Weekend Love, and Rain. Here’s what I thought about my favorite tracks:

EVOLUTION is a track that shows off Chad Michael’s verbal capabilities! By showing us how fast and creative his lyricism can be. Considering this is the first track off the EP and the first song I hear from Chad Michael, this is definitely a great introduction. He lets the listener know the bullshit he’s been through and what he’s doing to prevail in his music career. Dope flow!

DIFFERENT is a track where Chad Michael expresses his time growing up in Arizona and making the big move to California. Retouching his roots Chad realizes things change and things will become different. Visual Directors Danny Gauthier and Chad M. Arechiga bring Chad Michael’s music video to his first single DIFFERENT.

WEEKEND LOVE here’s a track where Chad Michael becomes a hopeless romantic. When needing love you just have to take it slow or do what just feels right. But due to his career and the long distance, the commitment just doesn’t feel right. With what the entertainment industry is trying to show the artist, that the most important thing is getting money and fucking bitches. Messes with the mind, but not the heart.

RAIN I find this track to be very poetic with a heavy introspective perspective. With the simple production, it really makes you concentrate with what Chad Michael’s had to say. The twenty-four year old artist who has potential in making his mark in the hip-hop scene. RAIN also shows Chad’s melodic and soulful side to his music.
chad michael
Chad uses ‘Rain’ as an opportunity to continue to explore and refine his burgeoning mixture of sounds. Whether crooning softly to an old flame or attempting to navigate the difficulty of societal pressures, the young artist’s intelligence, raw ability, and passion shine

With the beginning of the year underway, Chad Michael is expected to have collaborations with established artists and some new music videos as well! Be on the lookout for more content and take a listen to the Rain Ep.

Album Review: Pennjamin Bannekar – Paper Plane Pilots

[CHICAGO] Pennjamin Bannekar is an artist who’s looking to express himself through his music. Penn has with his album Paper Plane Pilots! The twleve track project is a story from start to finish. From being involved in the music scene, to working things out in a long relationship, dealing with heartbreak, and with life afterwards.

pennjamin bannekarThis is not your regular type of hip-hop sounding project, the Paper Plane Pilots is filled with melodic R&B flows and amazing production from Flawless Tracks, !llmind, SuperstaarBeats, Canis Major and celebrity Chicago producer The Fr3shmen (producers for Fabolous, Jeremih, Cassie, Raekwon, and Travis Parker among others).

My favorite tracks off Pennjamin Bannekar’s album are Word, Penn & Paper (featuring Taylor Mallory & Lokachiran), Kill Button, Bodies (featuring Dhniera Blu), Thief (featuring Felly The Voice), Like We’re Broken Up (featuring Jessica Louise & Runway Bella), Here’s What I Think About U, and Congratulations. I feel the project benefits both female and male audiences. For females because of the diversity with R&B singers on the project and for the fellas because of his descriptive lyrics.

When it comes to creating a visual to bring what you say to life. With Penn, he was able to by releasing so far his music videos WORD, THIEF (featuring Felly The Voice), and LIKES. You can only find these tracks off the Paper Plane Pilots; take a look!

One of my favorite tracks has to be LIKE WE’RE BROKEN UP. I really like the chemistry between Pennjamin Bannekar, Jessica Louise & Runway Bella. They give the track a bit of a spunkiness. The song also reminds me of a 90’s pop/hip-hop track. Paper Plane Pilots is definitely a project that’s worth a listen and is filled with really dope tracks.

This concludes my review on the album, but if you’re diggin’ Paper Plane Pilots by Pennjamin Bannekar, then you should support the artist and get it on either iTunes, Amazing, and Google Play.

LP Review: Chronicle – Bright Nights

[JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA] It’s been about two years since aspiring hip-hop artist Chronicle released DARK DAYS EP. But now for the end of 2015 Chronicle brings us his first LP entitled BRIGHT NIGHTS. Through his hiatus Chronicle was able to work on his craft and was able to find his place in music. With my LP Review I’ll be going over my favorite tracks off the Bright Nights (Deluxe Edition).

IMG_0409Even though the title of the LP “Bright Nights” maybe an oxymoron term but it definitely provides a positive through negative type of vibe. Chronicle remains with soulful sounds such as 90’s R&B, Jazz, and Hip-Hop. He was able to portray these vibes with the help from producers Taylor King, LB, Saul xo, Stevie Fanta, ghost/\/ghoul, Soul, and atlastheoverseer.

BRIGHT NIGHTS LP is a story reflecting on the struggle corcerning his family, relationship woes, insecurities, and a distaste for the current direction of the music scene. Regardless to all these issues/struggles Chronicle insist that there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel. Anything you do, make sure it’s done with love.

CHILL ASS INTRO is a great way to show you a sense of what Chronicle is going through and how the vibe it’s setting itself. Right at the beginning you hear from his parents, loved ones, about when is he getting his music together? The intro also features Dezy.

NOSTALGIC kinda reminds me of Gangsta’s Pradise from Coolio. With that dark night/90’s hip-hop production. “Give my people something to live for, Give my people something to die for.” That hook is eternal! Throughout everyone struggle they need to see the light in order to have the reason to live and climb through any obstacles.

LET ME LIVE I feel that this track can definitely be played in a club setting. Especially with the chorus, I can see the crowd go through a trance. Chronicle speaks the truth from experience. Coming together with good people and celebrating with what life has to offer. And if anyone has an issue with that, then give them that middle finger.
IMG_0464
POUR OUT YA SOUL really expresses how he feels about his family and how he is when it comes to certain situations. Chronicle also touches topics regarding how people are following trends and eve insecurities in relationships. During these tough times, Chronicle is compelled to search for hope from a higher power.

DO YOU LOVE ME, I feel this track is one of the strongest one on the Bright Nights LP. Discussing the problem he has regarding now a days with woman calling themselves bad bitches and not giving themselves enough dignity.

MIDNIGHT DRIVE is setting the mood for those late night drives with someone you’re interested in. This track is meant for that special lady in your life. Everything about this girl is something you can’t ignore. Chronicle expresses the intensity of attraction. With a minute left in the song you can hear how Chronicle embraces that R&B style he loves so much.

O.T.S is the track to help younger generations to realize things should be done when you’re truly ready such as having kids at a young age. Hoping that other parties will understand and respect your decision. Especially when it comes to letting certain people out of your lives. O.T.S features Vizzle.

This concludes my take on the Bright Nights LP brought to you by Jacksonville Upcoming Hip-Hop Artist Chronicle! If you’re diggin’ the project as much as I am you need to go and support it now and purchase it via iTunes! By doing so you’ll be able to get the BONUS tracks too that include I’m Just Doing Me, Bright Nights, American Dream, and Do You Remember.

Mixtape Review: Caddy Pack – GOOD

As Caddy Pack makes her debut on NikkiSiixx with her visual to her lead single KANYE, I bring you an exclusive review on her GOOD Mixtape. The twelve track project presents us with different styles to Caddy Packs rhymes. She has the capability to rap fast and on beat. Caddy Pack’s GOOD Mixtape also has features from Waka Flocka Flame, Mello Charmillz, and Young KB. Caddy Pack has impeccable punchlines, that she presents her self with an innovative style to her flows. Caddy Pack should be considered a gem since its rare to find a female artist in her parts of the world. She is always opened to new ideas, especially when it comes to working with music producers from a different range of genres. Caddy Pack is able to write her own rhymes and you might even catch her singing a hook or two. My favorite tracks off the GOOD Mixtape are I Bet She Go, Money In My Pocket, Hustle Grind, Cookies and Bass, and KAYNE.

caddy-pack-websiteI BET SHE GO This track continues off the GOOD Intro. Caddy Pack brings that club-crunk vibe along side Atlanta Artist Waka Flocka Flame. She rips it with her fast rhymes while giving us something to bump to.

MONEY IN MY POCKET Is such a fun song! Caddy Pack goes in what she does with the money in her pocket. “IF I LIKE IT. THEN I ROCK IT. I GOT MONEY IN MY POCKET“..its super catchy. I even like how Caddy Pack adds the aggressive growl/roar to the hook. Who wouldn’t want to use their money on things that they want.

HUSTLE GRIND Caddy Pack was able to engage the trap sound that HUSTLE GRIND brings to the table. Also, on the track is with Switzerland Artist Mello Charmillz. I think they both should make more music together. I really like how the song came out as a whole.

COOKIES AND BASS Caddy Pack experiments in the world of EDM with the production that brings us some electronic sounds and some heavy bass. The electronic sounds remind me of an old arcade game sounds (8bit). Caddy Pack takes a witty approach with what she has to say. You can find the visual to this video on her youtube channel: CADDY PACK.

KAYNE represents the person you want to be, someone whose successful and truly believes in themselves. The Beat was produced by Tuny Chris and the video was directed by Marco Giglio. For the track KANYE, I find the hook to be very catchy! This song makes you feel unstoppable. This song is meant for the ones who are confident and are ready to take over the world. Watch now the music video for KAYNE via NikkiSiixx.

Surprisingly, Caddy Pack is only 4’9 Tall but she can fill a room with her energy. Which will leave a fascination with the audience. She gets hundreds of people to call and response to her and her songs even though many hear them for the first time. Until now she has had shows over all Germany and is ready for her international breakthrough. Be on the lookout, I’ll be doing an interview with Caddy Pack soon. Project Review: Idiotic Oddity – Idiotic Oddity EP

[NAPTOWN, INDIANAPOLIS] Idiotic Oddity is a unique artist that mixes hip-hop, pop, and rock within his genre. This presents a wide arrange of sounds that Idiotic Oddity adapted to quickly. You may think is a bit out of the norm, but who is normal nowadays? Oddity’s also does his own vocals, making an appearance on his hooks/chorus. Really catchy! Wanting me to press replay. Idiotic Oddity released his self titled EP Idiotic Oddity. I find this to be a great introduction to who Oddity is as an artist. The refreshing production and melodies reminded me of one of my favorite Indie Electronic Duos The Limousines. With a dancy 80’s synth and 90’s influenced pop. But Idiotic Oddity provides a hip-hop flow to his verses. Idiotic Oddity EP is a five track project, here’s what I thought about my favorite tracks off of it.

CERTAIN WAY One thing I really like about this song is the production and the catchiness of the hook. Oddity expresses his interest in someone whose not giving the attention he wanted, so he just had to let them go. Admitting his true feelings to her, knowing he’ll be burning their bridge of friendship since he knew the feelings weren’t reciporcal. Regardless, in a way it’s for the best, since he started to feel like he was being led on from a far.

EVERYTHING TO ME Here’s another track where Oddity is expressing himself to a woman of interest. Predicting scenarios if they were to be together. One thing I like about this track is Oddity’s slower flow. You’re able to fully listen to his dialogue and I feel he gets his point across.

TONIGHT ALONE Oddity has the capability to make a catchy hook! Here’s a track where the production takes us more on the rock and roll side. Oddity adapted a faster delivery over the guitar riffs. It just goes to show that Idiotic Oddity is able to work on different sounding music. This track really gives off an indie electronic style. Which I don’t mind because I enjoy that type of genre.

Screen Shot 2015-10-09 at 3.47.00 PMIdiotic Oddity is inspired from artist like Frank Ocean, Drake, Tyler The Creator, and Childish Gambino. You can sense what artists inspired how he took his hooks and melodies with Frank Ocean and Drake while Tyler The Creator and Childish Gambino inspired his lyrical approach to his storytelling. With Oddity and his music it catches the listeners’s attention and sparking their curiosity. If you’re diggin’ the Idiotic Oddity EP make sure to listen via SPOTIFY. And follow him on all his social media links to stay in the loop.

Project Review: Stephen Bradley – Runaways

Stephen Bradley Cover[Los Angeles, California] Stephen Bradley isn’t exactly what you’d call a noobie musician. If the name “No Doubt” rings a bell, then you’ve probably heard some form of this mans work since he’s been a member of the band for a while. This new EP isn’t about the past though, so don’t let it weigh to heavily on your mind as you’re listening. Bradley has come to us with the offer of a 4 song EP, meant to show us what he can do on his own. The project is without a doubt a feel-good collection of songs. The subject matter is down to earth and easy to relate to. It doesn’t cover a wide range of topics but that’s only because of its brevity. A full length album from him seems like it would be very interesting.

Take You Home” is a standout track on the project. The production is electric and mesh perfectly with Stephen Bradley’s voice and lyrics. It’s your typical “holla at a fly shorty” affair, but it’s sung so enigmatically that I couldn’t stop myself from moving along to the beat.

The only drawback about this EP is that it makes you wish it was longer. Although, that can be taken as a compliment towards the strength of the few songs that are offered. It’s great to see Stephen Bradley doing something outside of No Doubt and making a pretty good go of it. It’s worth a listen for anyone that appreciates a smooth groove and tight production. It’s short, but sweet.

Project Review: BLACK-EP – Lyric Le’Velle

[Fort Worth, TexasAlbum Cover] Hot on the heels of his single, Proud (reviewed here), Lyric Le’Velle has released the excellent BLACK-EP. Le’Velle worked with multiple producers on this EP in order to provide a varied soundscape for your enjoyment. He explores many different types of sounds in order to flex his lyrical muscles and succeeds in almost all of his attempts.

The first track on the EP, Tainted Intro, acts as a mission statement for the songs that are to follow. He lets you know what’s up with lyrically precise bravado as he raps “Now we in this moth******er, ten toes deep/kickin’ game, speakin’ slang mainly kinfolk speak”. He asserts himself as having both his feet firmly planted in the rap game and as willing to reach out to those willing to understand his language.

unnamed-3Speaking of which, he definitely takes the language of lyrics and makes it all his own. He’s a gifted story teller whose words don’t just explain his world, but actually bring you right into it. Tell Me  takes us on a journey through Texas, Hunger  has you riding along with Lyric Le’Velle in a world where it’s tough to make ends meet, and he has his greatest story telling moment on the emotionally charged Trissa.

Trissa  is a standout track. If hip hop was an exam, then Lyric Le’Velle would pass the story telling section with an A+ because of this song. In the interest of not spoiling it for first time listeners there won’t be any more details in this review, so definitely bump that joint and run it back a couple of times. Trissa  comes from a very real place and after hearing Le’Velle spit the lyrics, you can’t help but feel like you’re getting to know him or at least you’re getting to know his mind.

Sonically, there are a couple risks taken on this EP and some work better than others. US  sees the Fort Worth rhyme slinger trying to jazz up the EP over a beat with a saxophone that can be a little bit jarring and doesn’t fully gel with the rest of the project. On the other hand we have the excellent Session #2  which, while it also seems like a departure from the overall sound spectrum of the EP, is a perfect marriage of interesting production and introspective lyrics.

The album has nearly no stumbles, takes risks in the right places, has excellent beats and, most of all, it has a consistent level of high quality lyricism throughout. The BLACK-EP doesn’t pretend to be turn up music. It also doesn’t try to beat you over the head with the lyrics by jamming too many words into a small place. This album’s success is in its personality. Lyric Le’Velle shows us that Lyricism isn’t about how many syllables you can jam into a bar, but it’s about if you can make a complete stranger feel you.

Mission accomplished.
