Super League is the world’s first and biggest video game league that takes place in movie theaters worldwide. Bringing gamers of all ages together for a social, face-to-face gameplay experience on the big screen, Super League is establishing theatre auditoriums as the ultimate place to play some of the world’s most popular games.
To date, Minecraft is arguably the world’s most popular game, with over 70 million people having purchased it and more than 42 million Minecraft-related videos currently uploaded to YouTube.
How it works:
Gamers will bring their laptop into the movie theatre and connect to the Super League server. Once connected, they’ll join a lobby with up to 100 other gamers at the event. Teams will be formed and gamers will embark on 90 minutes of Minecraft fun.
For Fall 2016, Super League will be offering two ways to play Minecraft in a movie theatre: Minecraft Adventure and Metropolis Madness.
Minecraft Adventure is series of “one-day” events running every Tuesday and Saturday of the week from September 20 to October 1. Each event will feature different worlds, themes, and games. Minecraft Adventure events are standalone – tickets are purchased on an event-by-event basis, and teams are formed in the theatre before the start of each event. Tickets are $20 each.
Metropolis Madness is a four-week “league” running once a week from October 19 to November 9. The league and all of its games feature a “city” theme, drawing from historical US landmarks – the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Alcatraz Island, Central Park, and more. Tickets must be purchased for the whole league upfront. The $80 cost of admission includes entry to all four events.

When I heard that the team behind the Dynasty Warriors series was working on an Attack on Titan game, I thought I was in for more of the competent, but predictable, gameplay which made the series famous.
If you’ve played the DW games, a lot will be familiar here. There is a roster of different heroes who have unique skills and you traverse a giant battlefield killing as much as you can in order to single handedly turn the tides of war in your side’s favor. That much stays the same.
Using Omnidirectional Maneuver Gear feels amazing.
What sets it apart is the amazing movement options. The Omnidirectional Maneuver gear allows your character to zip across terrain with effortless ease and makes you feel like you’ve been planted in an episode of the anime. Killing titans with your friends in multiplayer is a blast, and the progression system for leveling up your character/equipment is addictive.
There’s various traps and cannon emplacements you can use if you get sick of doing things the old fashioned way.
Make sure to watch the video review for a more in depth analysis of what this game has to offer and be sure to follow me on Twitter @SpiegelDFE for more anime/video game news.
Mik3L starts a youtube gaming channel, and we have his gameplay on BATMAN: The Telltale Series. You can watch the entire walkthrough but there’s no commentary. So in a way it feels like you’re playing it. There’s a good eight parts to the first chapter/episode in the game. Enjoy the playlist while he takes on the first chapter of BATMAN: The Telltale Series.
The 14th installment of SNK’s King of Fighters franchise is set to drop on August 23, 2016. Other than a few lucky pro players, not a lot of people have had hands on time with this game so I was really excited when I heard there was a demo available on the Playstation Network. People seem to be anticipating this games release, so I got together with a friend to play a couple versus matches and see what KOF XIV is hittin’ for.
I was surprised when I saw that there were 7 characters available for me to play around with. I immediately gravitated towards Mai and Shun’ei and fell in love with how fast and technical the game is. If you don’t know much about KOF XIV and would like to see it in action, check out the video above for some uninterrupted gameplay along with commentary.
This game is going to have a pretty huge roster size when it finally releases. That’s pretty refreshing given the current trend of games coming out with only a few characters at launch before more are added as DLC.
I’ll definitely be picking this game up when it drops. For more on fighting games, or just to see whatever i’m playing, follow me on Twitter @SpiegelDFE.
Tokyo Mirage Sessions was originally announced as Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem. That gave people a lot of ideas concerning what kind of game it would be. Would it be a strategy RPG? Would it be a traditional JRPG where you control Chrom, Ike and Marth?
Well, the game we got was neither of those things. Don’t worry though, what we did get is an addictive JRPG in the vein of Atlus’ Persona games. You balance trawling through dungeons for loot and working for a talent agency in Tokyo Mirage Sessions and exploring the life of a JPOP star who casts spells is pretty refreshing.
Battles move along at a super addictive and rewarding pace.
The Fire Emblem elements come into play mostly as style choices, but the game flips the script to make it something special. The game is pretty lighthearted as well. While it does have its dark moments, there is a tongue in cheek sense of humor that keeps things from getting too heavy.
You learn new abilities by dapping up your mirages. Wuddup Chrom!

Last year when the official trailer release for an app that will allow you to capture Pokémon in the real world called, Pokémon Go. I released an article regarding the possibility the app will be overshooting it’s capabilities. What I should of focused on was the real capability of this app’s full potential on impacting the world.
If you’re playing Pokémon Go you know exactly what I’m talking about. This app hits right in the heart of a 90’s kid. The nostalgia this game created by bringing back the original 150 Pokémon search is a great moment. Bringing gamers who would usually stay inside the majority of their days are now walking miles in search and the ability to say you caught them all. Uniting people who would of never talked in the first place to long chats about Pokémon, where they found their rarest ones, and just funny stories or sharing memes. Also allowing people to conquer social anxieties when talking to new people and now being able to communicate face to face instead online in a chat room.
But sometimes there are downsides to great things, where there’s light there will always be darkness. People have been using this to lure people in traps getting robbed at Pokéstops. So it’s really about not going at 2AM in an area you’ve never been before. Because you’re only looking for trouble. Explore the world during the day AND REALLY BE AWARE OF YOURE SOUNDINGS AND DONT BE OBNOXIOUS TO OTHERS WHILE SEARCHING FOR POKéMON. SUCH AS LIKE ENTERING PRIVATE PROPERTY, AND STOPING YOUR CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC RISKING AN ACCIDENT.
Back to the good news, after about three weeks of a majority of the world playing this app Nintendo doubles in it’s Nintendo Stock. Increasing the value and impact the app has acquired. As we wait patiently for weekly updates, we can’t wait for the chance to start trading Pokémon with other Pokémon Trainers. But in the mist of it all, I’ve met a bunch of people who have the same love for Pokémon as I. Last weekend, I attended a #PokéWalkMiami and for about 3-4 hours a bunch of us went on a search for Pokémon. Setting up lures and owning Wynwood! Shoutout to @NormaNow & @See_Fig!
If you didn’t know I’m actually a huge gamer! I’ve been playing since an early age and just love the gaming community. I decided to gather some of my dopest gaming moments and added a bit of commentary.
NikkiSiixx Gaming Moments VOL TWO – Star Wars Battlefront
In the interest of full disclosure, let it be known that I absolutely love the Star Ocean series. Star Ocean III: Til the End of Time is one of my top 10 favorite games ever, so I originally had no intention of being objective with this review. Other media had panned this game severely and I felt like it was up to me to defend it and big up its good qualities.
But then I actually played the game.
After the first five minutes, I didn’t feel that immediate engagement factor. Star Ocean V: Integrity and Faithlessness just kinda starts and before too long you’re off adventuring trying to save your hometown from bandits or something. While that may be refreshing for some JRPG players who are sick of games in the the genre taking upwards of 15 hours to get to the good part, that quickened pace comes at the sacrifice of the story’s length. You can complete the main game in a little over 20 hours, so if you were looking for a sprawling space epic, this is the wrong place.
Runnin’ through these pretty towns with my woes
The game does have good qualities about it though, and mainstream critics have been way too harsh. Battles are fun, the English voice acting is really good, and it’s beautiful to look at. However, this isn’t the triumphant return of a much beloved series. Not even a little. I outlined the good parts of the game in my video review above so definitely check that out for more in depth analysis on what Star Ocean V does and doesn’t do.
The cancel system and customizable move-sets keep combat pretty entertaining.

The original Mirror’s Edge was something of a cult classic so the fact that the long awaited sequel actually came out is something of an accomplishment already. The way it uses next gen technology to improve on the mechanics that made the first game unique should net developer DICE considerable props.
Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst isn’t just a re-tread of old ideas but, while trying to expand on its formula, the game unfortunately experiences a few stumbles. The addition of an open world to explore seems like it fits right in with modern gaming trends, but over-reliance on timed side missions take away from what could have been a well paced story.
First day out the feds.
The game world looks beautiful and very interesting. However, and i’m not sure if i’m in the minority here, the amount of bright white surfaces found all over the city of glass gave me a bit of a headache and made me wish I had sunglasses. Combat was a nice surprise in this game and is much improved from the first game. If you want to see it in motion, definitely make sure to check out the full video review embedded above.
How you gonna call for backup when I just turned your larynx to spaghetti?
Overall, Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst is pretty good but certain design choices hold it back. If you want to check out the song I mentioned at the beginning of the video, here’s a link. It wasn’t a certainty that Halo Wars would get a sequel, but fans of the original can rejoice since Halo Wars 2 is looking to expand on the concepts of the original.
I got some hands on time with the multiplayer beta test for this game and did a 10 minute video with some narration. Click on it above in order to see how the game plays and see my initial impression of it.
Pumping out units and upgrading structures is pretty streamlined.

Platinum Games is known for dropping hits so, after hearing that they were picking up the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles license, there was cause for celebration. Following on the heels of the excellent Transformers: Devastation (reviewed here) the game seemed poised for success.
Early footage made it look like it was going to mimic Transformers in a lot of ways. Something about how the characters moved and the way combos linked made it seem like the only difference was that the turtles didn’t transform. Luckily, that isn’t the case and this game has a unique style of its own. Action is fluid and fun, but there are points where you can tell Platinum Games was just working on too much stuff at once.
You ever ran up on a helicopter before?
The usual Platinum Games polish is missing from this title and at times it was reminiscent of the studio’s notably lackluster Legend of Korra game. It’s easy to point the finger and say they didn’t try that hard since it’s just a quick cash-grab licensed title, but with how well their other licensed games have turned out, that would be wrong. Mutants in Manhattan definitely has a lot going for it so the initial negative reviews shouldn’t be taken as gospel.
You definitely want that Warp Dash on point for the boss fights.

If there’s one thing I can’t resist, it’s video games based on anime. I don’t know what it’s been about the past year, but it feels like more anime games are getting demos which is super great for people who may not be quite sure if a particular title is worth taking a chance on. Such is the case, for me at least, with the latest game based on Jojo’s Bizarre adventure.
I’ve watched Jojo before, but I’m not super deep into it. However, people on Twitter always seem to be going bananas about it, so there must be something special about it. The above video is my first time every playing a Jojo game and, even with my limited knowledge of the anime it’s based on, I had a blast with it. Thanks to the demo, I can tell that there is a lot to this game and it won’t be something only the hardcore fans can appreciate.
So.. The dog has a Stand too? Like, the dog fights people? That’s not your typical anime dog…
What surprised me the most about this demo was how it gives you a good grasp of this game’s cinematic presentation. Most demos and betas are happy to just put a multiplayer mode with a couple characters in front of you and say “go ham” which leaves you wondering about whether or not it can entertain you when you’re gaming solo. I got little snippets of the series’ humor and although I have yet to see Jotaro and Jean-Pierre in my JJBA viewing, I feel like i’ve known them for time.
All in all, it was a pretty good demo. For more anime/gaming content follow me on Twitter @SpiegelDFE and keep up with the latest in Geek Culture by staying on NikkiSiixx!
One Piece: Burning Blood is the latest game from Spike Chunsoft, the crew behind J-Stars Victory. It controls a lot like it’s predecessor, focusing less on crazy combos but trying to build hype moments through easy accessibility and flashy ultimate moves. I’m a pretty recent One Piece fan so i’m hesitant to grab the game for fear of spoilers, but it was so fun to play that depending what sort of single player offerings there are, I might just ramp up my viewing of the anime.
The above video is a quick match I played against one of my buddies after downloading the title to see what it was like. One Piece: Burning Blood comes out on May 31st in North America and is a perfect fit for fans of the anime who may not be into traditional/more complicated fighters. So here is the 2nd episode of Dead Space, after having so many issues with this particular episode it’s finally here. I didn’t edit this episode because I just felt like just filming the whole playthrough and let you see the full level(don’t worry the next episode I’ll edit).
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is being touted as developer Naughty Dog’s farewell to the franchise. If that is the case, they could not have ended the series on a better note.
This game had a lot of high expectations from the public, but the way it successfully delivers the experience we were expecting needs to be commended. When it comes time to end a beloved series, the potential for fans to feel let down is very high so if there’s one thing I want you to take from this review it’s that there’s no cause for concern.
Drake’s been known to cause headaches, so here he is slinging lead aspirin.
Given the new technology that it’s on, it was obvious that this would be the best looking Uncharted game yet. Instead of just relying on the more powerful hardware of the Playstation 4, Naughty Dog upgraded everything about the game from how interesting the characters are to how the action is paced.
Loot, Pillage, Kill, Repeat.
If you were on the fence about Uncharted 4, then seriously, get off of it. This game is a must play. Check out the video review about for my full thoughts and make sure to follow me on Twitter @SpiegelDFE and keep your eyes on NikkiSiixx for the latest in geek culture.
*The audio gets out of sync towards the end of the video….SORRY*
