[SOUTH FLORIDA] SIN is back at it with his latest single LOOK WHAT I DID featuring LEGAXY. After the success of his Dark Waters EP where he created eight tracks. The producers who were involved were able to grasp that overall dark undertone that SIN needed to express making a triumph over his bully.
Producers who were apart of his project were Rojas On The Beat, Nick Leon, Scottzilla, Nuez, The Pyrvmids, Anthology, and Dark Night. This time around he has producer Hooligan taking over. The track reminds me of a 90’s R&B / hip-hop track. The R&B vibes comes from Legaxy’s smooth hook with fresh vocals. SIN provides vivid raps that gives us a look into his life with LOOK WHAT I DID and how he feels about the music scene. When I read the title of this LP the first thing that came to mind was one of my favorite movies, New Jack City. As soon as I began to play “Can’t Take This From Me” I realized Bishop and MeRCY had a similar thought process. This 14 song project from the South Florida natives starts off strong with the vocals of Nino Brown & Cash Money Brothers saying their brotherly chant “Am I My Brother’s Keeper?” They lyrically start off with great stories on “Can’t Take This From Me” along with a tremendous chorus sang by Jahan Maria. Then on “iLLustrious Dons” they paint a picture that can resemble some of the most notorious black drug dealers. Track three entitled “YSL (Young Single Ladies) has a laid beat on which the fellas get to be a bit materialistic as they rap about young ladies & designer things.
“Digital Drugs” takes audio dope to a new level as Bishop and MeRCY kick trap shit over an electronic beat. Then they change up the mood of the listener with “Prisoner’s Paradise” which is more of a smooth track for the ladies. “Caine & Abel” truly plays on the album’s title and the well known story of Adam & Eve’s first 2 offspring. They ended the song with one of the most memorable parts from the movie Juice. On “Sunset Strip” they give you a visual stroll down sunset strip from their view. Track 8 titled “Life’s iLL” pays respect their team The iLLustrious. “Thief In The Night” is song about stealing a woman’s heart. “Sibling Rivalry” allows Bishop & MeRCY to show love to each other and talk about their differences over the past 10 years.
“The iLL Life” which is spit over the beat for “Luchini” by Camp Lo was used to spit about the good life. On the joint “Hello Kitty” they spit about sex without making it too obvious and vulgar. On “That’s On Everything” they just have spazzing on the track. “Skylines” is the come up anthem starting off with Tony Montana famous “The World Chico” speech to Manolo. Bishop & MeRCY rap about coming up and being about to watch the skyline of their city. Overall is a solid project that’s worth downloading.
South Florida’s own The Twentys have been building a buzz around the city by opening for the likes of Curren$y, Cyhi The Prynce & Rockie Fresh. Their video for the song “OLITB”, an abbreviation for Only Love In This Bitch, matches the ambiance of the song by having the same mellow feel. I don’t really want to compare their sound to anyone but it did remind me a bit of Wiz Khalifa and Drake before the mainstream days. The verses were simple in context but strong in delivery and the chorus was attention grabbing especially with the singing on it. The visual captures The Twentys living life from hanging around the house to performing live to enjoying time with friends. Overall I enjoyed the song and video and think you all may as well.
State of Mynd of Broward, FL started March by releasing the visual for “You Don’t Understand”. The track was produced by Knowledge Medina. State of Mynd delivers his lyrics of the modern day jazzy beat while walking standing in front of a few spots in the city. A few scenes of the video were shot during what seems to be dusk which made the trees have a autumn-like look that is difficult to do in south florida seeing how’s there are no real seasons. Another part was the video was shot on a bridge with the beautiful sight of yachts in the ocean below him. The clarity of the video matched that of the song in a great way.
