[EP REVIEW] Yadda Man – Lose To Win

screen-shot-2016-09-12-at-9-55-59-am

Making his debut on NikkiSiixx.com, we have hip-hop artist Yadda Man with his new EP LOSE TO WIN. The five track project brings us some old school vibes, with punchlines and overall a dope delievery by Yadda Man. The project was entirely produced by Luke White.

Here’s a bit of backstory on Yadda Man, he grew up in Cleveland, Omaha, and Chicago. Having to move around to three different cities. This gave a bit of an influence on his musical career. With his experiences, Yadda Man makes his lyrics come to life. Ever since he was young he knew the calling to becoming a hip-hop artist.

With my EP Review, I’ll be breaking down my favorite and stand out tracks of LOSE TO WIN. My picks are Say What, 15 Cents, Winning, and Triple H. Here are my thoughts:

13321864_1026375897416947_6088818784075384688_n[01. SAY WHAT] Yadda Man’s flow is on point over that boom-bap production. Sounds effortless. Yadda touches on topics of people who intend to talk more than what they know. Pretty much, it doesn’t phase him at all. He’s still going to do what he does best.

[02. 15 CENTS] The concept of this track, is Yadda Man asking a couple of questions to a shorty he wants to get to know. I feel this track could be that real summer vibes, it really comes off with the production. Also, this track is about the women who are worth it, are the ones who work hard for their own and are independent.

[04. WINNING] This track was the really stand out track on LOSE TO WIN. From the trap sound influence and fast flows, this track is a winner! Winning features Julian Thomas on the track. Both artists sound great together and what a great collaboration. I can definitely see this track being played in the club, it will fit perfectly.

[05. TRIPLE H] Yadda Man talks about the struggles of growing up and becoming a man. Regardless of how bad it gets Yadda Man makes sure to always look to the man upstairs for guidance. Sometimes you got to lose to win, is repeated throughout the hook. And a sample clip of an episode of Oprah, where she was going to have Nelson Mandela as a guest.

Recently, Yadda Man has teamed up with Music/Management & Promotional Company Rap Soul Ent. With shows and festivals booked between Texas and the Midwest, 2016 and 17 is looking really promising for the lyricist. His next show will be at the Rap Soul Music festival featuring Twista, Paul Wall & Afroman Sep 24th.

This concludes my EP Review on LOSE TO WIN, from Yadda Man. If you like the project as much as I do (considering 4/5 songs I listed), make sure to support the artist and follow him on all his social media below.

[EP REVIEW] Jayomega – The Essence

jayomega the essence

[BRONX, NEW YORK] Making his return on NikkiSiixx.com, Jayomega has been non-stop over the last year. With a successful podcast series called “The Officially Street”, making it to episode 52. Also, the last time we featured some music from Jayomega was with It’s My Time single, and he opened up my compilation mixtape NETWERK VOL TEN with SANCTUARY PART II. And when I added him on the POLL: Who Sampled It Better? Kingdom Hearts Utada Hikaru – Sanctuary, in which he won on listeners choice.

Now, he brings us THE ESSENCE EP. The eight track ep is a great way to reintroduce himself to new/old listerners. Here’s what Jayomega had to say about his approach in creating this EP. “I miss the essence of hip hop. I miss the era of the late 90’s and early 2000’s when lyrics, content and conTEXT actually mattered. There was a time when you had to be about what you claimed you were, and you were only respected if you honored the competitive nature of the genre and EARNED your spot by rapping your ass off to get there. It hasn’t been that way in like 8 years, and so I did this EP for those fans/artist who miss that era as well”.

I’ll be reviewing my favorite tracks off the project. My favorite songs are What It Sound Like? Tell Me What You See, Sanctuary Part II, When Love Dies, Let Me Tell You Something, and First 48.

[WHAT IT SOUND LIKE?] I feel that Jayomega, is motivated to not give up. The Essence EP is Jayomega’s tenth independent project release. The voice that was sampled is from Eric Thomas, an inspirational hip-hop speaker. What they used, makes you want to move forward. The production reminds me of late 90’s New York hip-hop track, produced by Syer (Co-Host of The Offically Street Podcast).

[TELL ME WHAT YOU SEE] During the hook Jayomega wants you to close you’re eyes, and open your mind. What do you see? Jayomega takes you to what he’s mind sees. Living life to the fullest and keeping your head up. His flow on the track fits perfectly with the production by Lil BEZ.

[SANCTUARY PART II] Jayomega was inspired by the original song when he first heard it on the opening credits of “Kingdom Hearts 2”, a popular Disney inspired RPG that released for Playstation 2 in 2005. Jayomega originally released “Sanctuary” on his mixtape “Ready Set Go 2: Going Going Gone“, but could never fully promote it as it violated some copyright laws. Jayomega sent me the track and advised him he should really get to remaking that beat to generate the song. But instead of using the same lyrics, he went in. Jayomega’s flow meets the pace to Syer amazing production skills. This track will always be one of my favorites! And Shoutout to Jayomega for giving my site a shoutout at the beginning/end of the track.
IMG_6166
[WHEN LOVE DIES] This track wow! It hit a nerve. But Jayomega’s story-telling of a love that ended. When that spark no longer existed and makes it difficult to continue with that person. You just have no emotion left what so ever. With this story, something wasn’t right from the start, but love falls heavy and it just doesn’t matter since you finally have this person. But then things get shady and sometimes relationships can’t last. Jayomega’s tone is sincere and makes you think its better to have a love that’s lost then not loving at all. Give love a try.

Screen Shot 2016-08-14 at 2.24.43 AM[LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING] What! This track goes hard! Jayomega brings that fuego on this one. His flow is fast and telling it like it is. Presence is strong with Jayomega. That heavy bass brings out the animal in Jayomega, production by Syer. Love the chemistry with these too. They can really make some dope music together.

[FIRST 48] Jayomega can’t wait any longer for Syer’s beat, its time for a freestyle. Well, more like an acapella… When Jayomega is ready in the studio, he’s filled with passion with his rhymes. Straight up BARS!

I find the eight track EP to be a good amount of songs for this project. Lately due to people’s attention span, usually long mixtapes of over 20 songs fall on deaf ears. Giving the listener enough to want some more. I thought Jayomega’s The Essence EP was a dope listen and solid with production choices and lyrical content. If you’re diggin Jayomega make sure show support listen to the project, follow him on all his social media outlets, and don’t forget to stay tune for more episodes of The Officially Street Podcast!

[EP REVIEW] Dante Lennon – Party At A Funeral

dante-lennon-paaf-invite-glitch

[BROOKLYN, NEW YORK] Making her debut on NikkiSiixx.com, we got femcee Dante Lennon with her latest EP entitled Party At A Funeral. Dante Lennon definitely presents a tough/fierce female role, with so much power in her flow. Party At A Funeral also features PremeDaPrez, D.R.U.G, and Deacon. The eight track project really provides you a sight of love and loss throughout it all.
img_3172-2
Dante Lennon presents us with a retrospective dialogue aimed towards to celebrating the complexities that make life appealing. Taking a few listens in on the EP, Dante Lennon brings us some really detailed situations that only makes you wonder. My favorite tracks off Party At A Funeral are EVEL, PARTY AT A FUNERAL, WAITING, THAT LIFE, AND FIN. Here’s what I thought about those tracks:

EVEL – Dante Lennon brings us a revealing pass. Talks about what’s happened at her performances, what’s she willing to do for a relationship, and having to deal with people betraying her. Dante Lennon makes sure to deal with these situations the most positive way even though it caused some pain. She’s moving forward without looking back. The vocals singing “I’m Evel Canvel, watch me blast off” really gives you that whatever you want to do, you’re going to do it.

PARTY AT A FUNERAL – Opening up about hustling in the streets and up to no good, now she’s on a better path. The vibe of the track gives me a late 90’s street cypher style/production. I’m personally in love with Dante Lennon’s second verse on this track. I felt she deliver that with perfection. She murdered it with that one.

WAITING – Gives the listener a perspective of someone who’s dealing with heartache. About a love that didn’t last and doesn’t want another chance at it. But you still want to try. You expect them to wait for you and not being with someone else. Because you know that love was real. You made mistakes, but improving yourself and hoping they want to be with you again, someday. But unfortunately, in this tale it’s not a happily ever after.

“Artists are people driven by the tension between the desire to communicate and desire to hide.” -Dante Lennon

dante lennon brooklyn

THAT LIFE – Off rip, this track gives you a trance like vibe, in a way it reminds me of Missy Elliot. But I don’t mind that at all, I like how Dante Lennon can adjust her flow speed depending on the pace of the beat. She sounds hella dope on this track, I can definitely hear this on the radio. Definitely that pop/hip-hop sound to it.

FIN – What a way to end Party At A Funeral with straight up BARS! Dante Lennon brings it to the table with what she has to say. She even brings up the topics of police brutality, gentrification occurring in her neighborhood, and what she got to do to survive.

Opening up the pages to her diary, Dante Lennon reveals much truth with her lyrics. And with that she wants you to get to know her story. If you’re feeling her project as much as I am, you should definitely take a look for updates by following her social media outlets. Check out her latest music video for One Thing:

EP Review: Kojazz – JaZZ Daniels

kojazz jazz daniels ep

[NEW YORK] After having Kojazz made his appearance on the NikkiJoMazing Couch, then releasing his Change The Subject EP, and constantly working with his other affiliates from the iLLustrious group. Currently, KoJazz released another collective project entitled the Jazz Daniels EP. The nine track EP is solely produced by Solidified. According to KoJazz “Journey through 30 minutes of liquored up tunes and cheers to good times sponsored by shots of good ol’ Jazz Daniels…Listen Responsibly”. And that’s what I’m planning on doing, I’ll be reviewing the project and pick out my favorite tracks.

[HONEY ON THE ROCKS] This track definitely sets the mood right and demonstrates a night of influence. Kojazz is setting the tone over this sweet Solidified beat. Kojazz is very descriptive and describes heading to a bar and fighting his demons. His flow lands perfectly with the beat. kojazz music

[THE BREWERY] Kojazz collaborates with JuG the ILLEST and Rell Burgundy. This track sets the mood for the afterparty. Everyone has bars and I think its pretty dope there’s a Flash line hidden in the track. The hook is mad catchy! THE BREWERY can definitely be played at clubs I can sense the crowd to really be feeling this one.

[POUR DECISIONS INTERLUDE] After a night of binge drinking, you can only imagine the poor decisions you’ll make under the influence. One of them like driving under the influence. I really like the samples and skit at the end. Showing you the effects of driving drunk and getting pulled over.

[ALCOHOL POISONING] I feel like this is the climax track to the Jazz Daniels EP. Everyone on the track Christyle, MeRCY, and Kojazz get rowdy on this one. I really like Christyle’s verse, she’s brining it to the table.

[GENTLEMEN JAZZ] time to slow down the night and unwind with Kojazz and YoAmanduh. Even though Kojazz may seem tough but he can get romantic on the track. YoAmanduh brings that late night vibes with her sultry voice. Nice way to end the 30 minute journey.

kojazz 1This concludes my review on Kojazz’s Jazz Daniel’s EP. Shoutout to everyone who was apart of the project Solidified, Bishop, MeRCY, Rell Burgundy, JuG the ILLest, Christyle, & yoAmamduh. If you’re diggin’ the EP as much as I am, you gotta follow and stay in the loop with Kojazz.

EP Review: GiZMO TAiLz – Mugiwara

gizmo tailz mugiwara ep

gizmo tailz[MIAMI, FLORIDA] After making his debut on NikkiSiixx.com with his music video DON’T TURN AROUND, GiZMO TAiLz brings us his first solo project MuGiWara EP.

If you’re not to familiar with what a Mugiwara is, it’s actually means Straw hat. GiZMO TAiLz is an artist, director, editor, producer, and engineer. He’s even 1/2 Member of The Creative Duo RASKLz [PIZZV.LORDz]. This is not just your regular thirteen track EP. It would be safe to say it’s more like a dark experiment with house/techno with a dash of some hip-hop. You can say it’s an unfound sound in today’s music. For my review I’m going to break down my favorite tracks off the MugiWara EP, which are MuGiWara Awaken, UV RAY, Take Control, Don’t Turn Around, 6GOLDZ, Su-Zen-B [Heal], and Voyage [Filler].

UV RAY // MuGiWara Awaken have a visual along side the tracks. The tracks are really an introduction to thus the style and vibe GiZMO TAiLz demonstrates. In the Music Film, GiZMO has a very unknown and strange power, and a love for pizza. The video is extremely trippy, but cool in a sense. Inspired by anime Video Games And Real Life Situations. The Young PIZZVLORD Looks For a quick “Slice” and what new Powers he’s Awaken Between The 2D And Real World. As Gizmo Falls Into A Tranced State, his visions are becoming powered. Now on a mission to create a New Wave. Did he really find a ForBidden Pizzv Crest? Directed and Edited by GiZMO himself, and Fimed Co. Directed By eqobKING.

TAKE CONTROL – The vibes on this one remind me of Kid Cudi’s Man on The Moon: The End of Day. “Let The Music Take Control” is repeated throughout the track with some melodies. In a sense it’s kinda like putting you in a trance.

This ain’t your ordinary music video, this visual definitely grabs the title for unique and dope graphics. GiZMO TAiLz is an inspiring artist that creates music in many different forms of hip-hop and can tap into alternative house genres. His visual DON’T TURN AROUND begins at the start of a retro fighting video game that eventually turns into a real life ninja, who is set to get The Pizzv Crest. GiZMO TAiLz transforms into Ninja Formation and Fights Dragoro. The visual also takes place at this years Florida Supercon 2k15. DON’T TURN AROUND is a music video like no other and definitely sounds like something new. Gamers can enjoy this visual too.

6GOLDZ – Considering GiZMO TAiLz self-produced the entire project, you can find some really catchy melodies. I found it on this track 6GOLDZ. Very simple, but when he starts rapping about his 6 gold teeth, it goes really well on beat.

Su-Zen-B [Heal] Even though this track is only instrumentals you can really dig this clubby vibe, GiZMO is trying to bring to the table. Another good instrumental is Voyage [Filler]. If I was an artist, I would be interested in seeing about working on getting production from GiZMO TAiLz.

EP Review: JU$TIN – JUSTIN Designed THAT

JU$TIN JUSTIN Designed THAT EP Cover art

JU$TIN_1[LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA] Originally from the Bronx, Hip-Hop/Rap Artist JU$TIN had an unfortunate experience with the LA County Jail system. He was fighting a felony charge for a month and half spending time behind bars. Luckily, he was released in time to graduate from Santa Monica College with honors. That experienced helped give enough inspiration to bring his first EP JU$T HU$TLE BxTxH: 3883076 to life and releasing his second EP $treet ART.

$treet ART was more like a throwback freestyle tape done over classic 90s NYC HipHop instrumentals. The title pays homage to the Graff culture and is a metaphor for how Street Artists tag their name onto other peoples property, which is what JU$TIN was doing by showing respect to a few classics by adding something new to it. JU$TIN released those two EP’s back in August of 2015 and now he presents us with his latest release JUSTIN Designed THAT EP. Making his debut on NikkiSiixx.com, I’m going to review my favorite tracks off the EP.

[LAPTOP 2 TRAPSPOT] When using your computer/laptop as a source of creating music, promoting yourself, and even making money off the internet. Your Laptop is your trapspot. JU$TIN elaborates the Cali scene with the finest greens. I sense with this track you can hear the East Coast Influence with the beat production by @SeriousBeats.

Jackie-Joyner-Kersee-Artwork[JACKIE JOYNER KERSEE] With the opening statement of the track, it’s a woman’s voice that says “I think you learn so much from losing. I think-uh losing helps to keep things in perspective, helps you to evaluate what went wrong, and why was it that you came up short”. I find that quote to be empowering. JU$TIN says this is an anthem dedicated to all the money chasers that we face. The title is names over the legendary Olympic Gold Medalist Jackie Joyner Kersee. This is actually the first single off the JUSTIN Designed THAT EP, produced by @TrapMafiaBeatz.

[LOVE ME] Was the first song JU$TIN recorded on Thanksgiving Day and after listening to it, he decided he wanted to release another project for Christmas and started gathering beats from various producers online. It took about three to four weeks to get JUSTIN Designed THAT EP to be complete. The track LOVE ME, is expressing how people can’t help but appreciate him as a person and as an artist. This track you can hear the West Coast influence in its production, brought to you by @DJRELLYRELL.

JU$TIN_4
[WORST DECISION EVER] JU$TIN goes in on his worst decision ever, which is dating someone who he wish he never met. The woman he was with decided to love someone else while JU$TIN was investing his time and emotions. He feels it has messed up his thought process. Hopefully, acknowledging what went wrong and learning from his mistakes.

“My writing process doesn’t consist of jotting rhymes down or typing into my mobile device, I construct the entire song in my head, w/ the hook being the first thing I record, and then I roll 1 up and vibe to the beat until the lyrics begin to come to me – JU$TIN

Besides being an artist, JU$TIN executes his visions through his graphic designs. He can draw, paint, and he even has a degree in Graphic Design plus a background in illustration from his time spent attending the High School of Art & Design in NYC. He even started his own clothing line. You can catch JU$TIN wearing it on the cover of JUSTIN Designed THAT EP, but you should check out his shop for some more graphic tees, crew neck sweaters, and pull over thermal hoodies that were personally designed by artist / designer JU$TIN.
