gather___kachidoki_arms__by_arashi_yanagawa-d7wpup0

When it comes to the style and imagery of a comic book. You start to wonder the back story of the creator. For the upcoming issue of Samurai Shin I decided to Interview illustrator Sukma Agustriyana, here’s what we discussed:

NIKKISIIXX: What inspired the Ghost Art series (Deviantart Gallery)? These were really impressive.
Sukma Agustriyana: thank you ~.. for all kamen rider ghost artwork, I really inspired from the actual figure which based for each form of kamen rider ghost. i’ts like ghost musashi which means its from actual samurai figure miyamoto musashi.

16736473_120300002158302105_1979973816_nNIKKISIIXX: Would you say you’ve always embraced your creativity? What makes your draw?
Sukma Agustriyana: there’s so much things that makes me draw until now, like watching movies, reading manga or books, playing video and looking at other inspiring artist artwork and then study it..
rurouni_kenshin___kyoto_inferno_by_arashi_yanagawa-d7zl2i6.png

NIKKISIIXX: How was it working with the other illustrators and following Mike Miles vision with the project?
Sukma Agustriyana: it’s amazing experience… working with all team members is so much fun, they are all talented and Mikel was also clear with his vision that makes me more easier to visualize the artwork.

NIKKISIIXX: What inspires you when creating the images for Samurai Shin?
Sukma Agustriyana: some of my inspirations comes from anime and movies. Just like the first when i saw the previous samurai shin artwork, I suddenly think about afro samurai, and then more anime movies like “sword of the stranger”, “Samurai Champloo” and “Rurouni Kenshin”.

NIKKISIIXX: How was your experience contributing to xenopets :concurro & aldnoah zero Mangas?
Sukma Agustriyana: it was awesome.. at first I was little afraid of making mistakes because its the first comic I working on, but along the way I learned a lot of new things.
CORE1
NIKKISIIXX: What do you think about the Samurai Shin Soundtrack? Which track is your favorite and why?
Sukma Agustriyana: its cool!, my favourite track is titled “past” by kuro silence its a nice calming tone, soothing and good instrumental.

NIKKISIIXX: If you were to create a character like yourself, what characteristics or powers will he have? And what would be his back story?
Sukma Agustriyana: i think i will create some shape shifting monster that can turn into anything he wants except his family, but from childhood he never met with his family members. and the story begin with meeting with one of the family members and adventure start with looking the rest of his family.

NIKKISIIXX: Anything you’ll like to share:
Sukma Agustriyana: as always.. “stay consistent and focused what are you doing, stay humble with everyone and keep learning from everything” 🙂

NIKKISIIXX: Any social media links, photos you like for me to use to post with the interview.

Interview: Caddy Pack

nikkisiixx interviews caddy pack

After Caddy Pack’s GOOD mixtape release and her music video entitled KANYE, I decided to get to know Caddy Pack a little bit better. We discuss her collaboration with Waka Flocka Flame, being a female rapper in Germany, her cat obsession, and what’s in store for her in 2016.

caddy-pack-kanyeNIKKISIIXX: What inspired your stage name Caddy Pack?
CADDY PACK: I came up with the name Caddy Pack when I first started rapping at the age of 14. Back then everyone was mentioning Cadillac cars in their songs and I thought Cadillac were so cool! So I changed the spelling a bit and kept Pack because that’s my last name and my stage name was set! Ever since that, I just stuck to it and never changed it.

NIKKISIIXX: What was the experience like working with Waka Flocka Flame on “I BET SHE GO” track?
CADDY PACK: A great experience! I have been able to open up for two of his shows in Germany and he’s such a cool guy. Opportunities like this mean a lot to me, they make me really thankful and motivate me to keep going.

NIKKISIIXX: Who do you think will appreciate your music?
CADDY PACK: I think anyone who likes to have a good time and party will enjoy my music. People that like hearing unusual beats for a change will appreciate because over the time, I’ve noticed my music is everything other than mainstream and kind of drifts off the typical “club bangers” you hear in clubs and the radio. But also especially women or female rappers, because we have a lot in common!

NIKKISIIXX: How’s the music scene out there in Germany?
german-flag-germany-map-germany-flag-animationCADDY PACK: Music with German lyrics has been getting more and more popular the last couple of years. Before that songs in German would barely be played or even made at all and mainly just the focus on music in English. What is very popular here is Pop, EDM and House/ Dance type of music. The most popular rappers played on the German radio are Pitbull, Flo Rida and Macklemore and singers like Adele, Beyonce, Madonna, Rihanna, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift are played a lot! The Music scene in the clubs are totally different than what is played on the radio. Depending on the club and the area music varies! For instance in northern Germany they play a lot of RnB and Old school Hip Hop in the clubs but in southern Germany they play real Rap and Trap music.

Screen Shot 2015-12-30 at 1.41.42 PMNIKKISIIXX: According to your Instagram, you’re a cat lover! Lovely Persian! Why did you choose a cat over a dog?
CADDY PACK: Yes my Persian cat Chocolate! He’s 10 years old and I’ve had him ever since he was a baby kitten! I chose a cat over a dog because I was 16 when I decided to get a pet. My mom wouldn’t allow a dog back then… Now that l’m moved out though, I still wouldn’t be able to have a dog because I wouldn’t have the time to take care of him as I work every day from morning to evenings. It would be sad having a dog that basically stays in the house all day… they need to be taken on walks and have enough time outside, run and all those things. So I simply don’t have the time to keep a dog since it requires much more time than having a cat.

Caddy_Pack_Waka_Flocka_Flame_Mello_Charmillz_Yo-front-largeNIKKISIIXX: After the success of your GOOD Mixtape? What is Caddy Pack currently working on?
CADDY PACK: I’ve recently worked on a song with my old guitar teacher Jan Lindqvist. He was recording an Album and asked me to be on one of his songs. His song is called “Here We Go” and its a typical blues song that I’ve added some rap onto. Sounds pretty cool and I’m always happy to try out new things and not just be glued to one music genre. It´ll be available in January 2016!

NIKKISIIXX: Your three goals for 2016:
CADDY PACK: 1. Release A New Mixtape 2. Perform in California 3. Meet great people/ Have New Opportunities

NIKKISIIXX: What would you say from your experience being a female rapper to help motivate other upcoming female rappers?
CADDY PACK: Never give up or let other people influence you in a bad way. I have had people try to tell me who to work with and what songs to preform or what songs to make. Always stick to what you truly want because that way you’ll be able to give 100% to everything you do! Be confident and authentic! Set a goal and keep it in mind, that always helps motivate! You don’t have to reduce yourself to sex or a sexy image, Missy Elliott is one of my biggest influences and she is really the best example of a hard working female rapper that made it with talent, creativity, and her overall very individual music and videos.

NIKKISIIXX: I’m really into the comic/geek world. Say if you had a super power and became a super hero. What would be your super power and what would be your super hero name? And would you be a Marvel or DC Comics Character?
marvel-logoCADDY PACK: Interesting question I’ve never been asked before! Of course I’d like to have as many powers as possible and its hard to choose! but if I had one super power it would be the ability to control the elements fire, water, air, earth. Something like Storm from X-Men would be cool! So in that case definitely a Marvel character overall I’m more of a Marvel fan! Its hard for me to think of a good name but maybe “Raven Snow” would be cool!

NIKKISIIXX: LAST WORDS
CADDY PACK: I really had fun with this interview and thank you for your time and interest! Thanks so much and have a great start in 2016! Stay tuned for new music and projects by following the links below.

This concludes my interview with Caddy Pack! Don’t hesitate and check out her music, and be in store for new music for the new year. Don’t forget to follow Caddy Pack on all social media outlets.

Interview: JamalG

JamalG

[Baltimore City, MD] When creating music, JamalG often feels like he has a duty or an obligation to speak for those who may not know how to speak for themselves. Being a vessel for his community, God, and the culture. He keeps a constant state of awareness. Releasing his track THESE WINGS. First single off of To Whom It May Concern 2: Final Draft featuring DMV’s own Huskey Hazel. JamalG writes music to use as the initial point of recovery and then performs them as therapy. Not only does he do it for his supporters but he does it for himself. He truly cares for the culture… Because he is the culture. I was able to have a interview with the Baltimore City Native and here’s what he had to say.

jamalg on stage soundcheckNIKKISIIXX: Blizz to Jamal G. Why did you decide on the name change?

JAMALG: Blizz is my neighborhood name. People in my area know me as Biggz younger brother or Blizz. I felt like I’ve changed a lot since I was that kid who just jumped off the porch. So in embracing my middle name I feel like it can take me a little further and push me to those different markets.

NIKKISIIXX: From what I hear from your music I see that you’re just trying to inspire your listeners to be great. What inspire you to take this route with your music?

JAMALG: The people. We have so many odds stacked up against us that when we finally do hear/see that inspiration it becomes that breath of fresh air that’s needed to carry on.

NIKKISIIXX: Sometimes by asking what’s someone’s favorite color you’ll be able to find out a little bit on that person. So what’s your favorite color and why?

JAMALG: It would have to be Black because it’s a strong color. Calm but bold. If you don’t pay attention it could be off putting at first glance but when you give it time, you find out how powerful it can be. The most simple decision I’ve made in my life is having black as a favorite color.

jamalg on stage photo NIKKISIIXX: How do you feel about Baltimore City Underground Hip-Hop Culture?

JAMALG: I love it! My loved ones are continuously working and making great music to shift the energy in Baltimore City.

NIKKISIIXX: Are you working on any new projects or is anything new you’ll like to share?

JAMALG: My new album “To Whom It May Concern 2: Final Draft” is set to release later this summer. It came out to be a great body of work that just makes sense for not only my community but for the Y and Millennial generation groups. Also, I’m currently on tour in Wales right now, but I will be home in August. I’m putting together an unplugged show for the album release in Baltimore City. More details will be revealed at a later date.

NIKKISIIXX: What inspired your THESE WINGS single?

JAMALG: These Wings was just something inspired by the space I was in at the time. I didn’t have a real direction for the album but I knew I wanted to make a statement for my community. I sent it to Husky and he wrote the hook and it was just on from there.

NIKKISIIXX: What is your opinion on Mainstream Hip-Hop?

JAMALG: It is what its suppose to be I guess. I haven’t really gotten the chance to focus on the mainstream to much lately but I’m sure you can find some gems there.

NIKKISIIXX: Any Last Words?

JAMALG: Thank you for the opportunity, I truly appreciate it. I hope everyone follows me on all social media so they can get a chance to buy the album in all online stores when it comes out later this summer. Love!
