[ALBUM REVIEW] AJB4 – Organic Growth

AJB4 - Organic Growth FRONT

[CHATTANOOGA, TN] This will actually be AJB4 first official post on NikkiSiixx.com. He did make an appearance with his single I BE THAT, in a previous project review I did for Samurai Shin VS Xia-Dawn. This time we have my review on his latest album Organic Growth. But before I get into the review, lets get to know him a bit better.

Growing up with the church and traveling all over the world due to his father love for God and his strength being a chaplain in the military. In 2008 his cousin and himself started to create rap songs that showed their devotion for the church. Which later turned into something greater, the love to becoming a musician and perfecting his craft. Lets look eight years down the line, here’s where AJB4 has released six projects and he’s received radio play from various online radio stations like K107FMJamz, GospelSynergy Radio and QSJRadio.

Throughout the ten track album, AJB4 presents us with solid work. The tracks I felt that really stood out to me were Loaded, Figure It Out, Its On Me, Spam Musubi, and You Don’t Know. Here’s what I thought are Organic Growth.

[02. LOADED] I really wish AJB4 started the album with this track. It really grabs my attention. AJB4 comes loaded and locked, with God by his side he feels there’s no room for error. He fights for what he believes in. Melodic harmonies in the hook, its hard not to recite it.

[03. FIGURE IT OUT] AJB4 opens up his heart, to the one that befriended him. Even though there was something more but it ended up in the trash. Growing up and becoming a man, AJB4 knows what he wants. And won’t let anyone hurt him when it comes to love. This tracks production makes me want to move back and forth. Even feels trance-like.

[05. ITS ON ME] I find this to be my favorite track off Organic Growth. Who hasn’t experience a relationship where the other half expect perfection from you. Causing stress and unnecessary pressure in not messing up. Or for some reason everything is your fault. AJB4 expresses his lyrics with a sense of wittiness. Even when breaking down the second verse and how she flipped so fast like he never existed and blocking him out of her life. At least AJB4 admits to his messes.

AJB4 - Organic Growth BACK

[08. SPAM MUSUBI] AJB4 talks about a girl of interest, that feels could be the one for him. Meeting her online, developing a dating relationship, talking all the time, and having something he thinks is real from afar. Kinda like it’s too good to be true, but that didn’t work out. Decides to make a move on someone but later found out she was in a relationship. AJB4 is looking for someone who’s real and not fake! I really like AJB4 flow on this one.

[10. YOU DON’T KNOW] AJB4 has been through a lot of struggles. But regardless he looks up to God and here’s where he can strive for greatness. Even have a close death experience it hit him like a ton of bricks. Feeling free and going down the right path. Talking about his story, he hopes you can learn from his mistakes.

AJB4 says his main goals are to make good positive music, praise God, keep it real, and share experiences in his life.

This concludes my album review of AJB4 Organic Growth, I broke down my favorite stand out tracks. Which tracks you felt were you’re favorite? Would love to hear what you have to say, just comment below or tweet me at @NikkiSiixx #OrganicGrowth !! He touches base on his struggle with his alcohol addiction. Talks about his weaknesses with bad women who don’t want to stay. One thing I really like about this track was the production with the jazzy sounds and how Des Brennan overall tone on the track. Really gave an intimate discussion feel. [MIXTAPE REVIEW] JU$TIN – $treet ART 2

$treetART2_cover_front

[BRONX – LOS ANGELES] Making his third appearance on NikkiSiixx.com we got Hip-Hop/Rapper JU$TIN. After we review his EP “JU$TIN Designed That”, and his single “Key 2 Success”, this time I bring you my mixtape review for his latest mixtape $treet ART 2! JU$TIN has always had the love for music and even pursued it at a young age of thirteen. The time spent honing his craft at such a young age, helped JU$TIN develop strong songwriting skills that would come in handy when he eventually became a solo artist. Dreams of rap superstardom didn’t happen as fast as JU$TIN would’ve liked during his teenage years, so music became a part-time hobby since he needed full-time work to help pay the bills and keep the lights on as he got older.

Feeling the pressure of the inner-city life closing in, JU$TIN took a chance and enlisted in the U.S. NAVY for some time. During his time in the service he was able to travel across the globe and gain a newfound appreciation for HipHop culture’s popularity around the world. After leaving the Navy, JU$TIN relocated to Los Angeles to pursue two of his childhood dreams which are Music and Art. And started attending school at Santa Monica College. Working towards his Graphic Design major while taking audio engineering classes to be able to record and mix his own music, and handle the artwork/photography needed to promote it properly.

Now its time to get in on my review for JU$TIN’s latest project. Considering this is his fourth project, JU$TIN definitely shows us improvement with his releases. $treet ART 2 is the second in a series of freestyle projects that JU$TIN does to sharpen his flow and spazzes out lyrically, while paying homage to classic 90’s Hip-Hop instrumentals and showing love to the street artists/Graf writers all over the world. This is the tape for them. $treet Art 2 is about thirty minutes long and builds awareness for his brand and expanding to his fanbase and new fans.

JU$TIN_1For the twelve track mixtape my favorite tracks off of $treet ART 2 are Pain 4 Profit, Key 2 Success, Fresh Denim, Living Proof, Where My Homies, and Adam & EVE. Let’s take a trip down memory lane with the Bronx, NY native as he adds his own creative spin to 90’s NYC classic songs from artists like Wu-Tang Clan, C-N-N, and Fat Joe just to name a few.

[PAIN 4 PROFIT] I feel JU$TIN is really opening up on this track. We find out the struggles he goes through and how he works on trying to overcome them. Dealing with life expenses that you can’t afford, people and their fuckery, and the situations that you have no control when finding out his mother had a lump in her breast. Since he’s flow is a slow paced it makes you feel JU$TIN is there right next to you, telling you what’s up. This smooth beat was produced by @TheBeatBrigade.

[KEY 2 SUCCESS] After getting inspired from DJ Khalded’s infamous Snapchats and motivational words for a better life. JU$TIN made a creative, dope track packed with a lot of “Mogul Talk” & hard-hitting bars. KEY 2 SUCCESS was a great way to keep listeners waiting for $treet ART 2 project that was still not out yet until now.

[FRESH DENIM] His ride and his money show people he’s flexin’. JU$TIN clarifies what he wants a woman who has drive. He expresses he needs a woman that is on the same hustle he’s on. Produced by @AOneBeats. I asked JU$TIN what was the concept he wanted the listeners to get and here’s what he had to say: The concept behind ‘Fresh Denim’ is that its a fun song that’s a play on the words in the title of the song. Where I talk about chasing your dreams and pushing it to the limit when it comes to achieving your goals. Whether it’s going after that girl you’re interested in before someone cuffs her up like some Fresh Denim or riding around in your car feeling like your fresher then ’em.
$treetART2_cover_back
[LIVING PROOF] JU$TIN brings us his bars over DJ PREMIER’S “Living Proof” beat. The vibe brings you back to New York in the 90’s. That old school sound and JU$TIN voice really embodied that vibe. Wanted to share with you the Tropic Thunder sample used in the track. I thought it was cool to add and the cover art of the track is an artistic portrait of Robert Downey Jr’s character Kirk Lazarus.

ju$tin1[WHERE MY HOMIES] JU$TIN this time freestyles over an ILL AL Skratch “Where My Homiez” 1992. Definitely get the West Coast vibes on this one. JU$TIN talks about the good times in his hometown, chilling with his friends up to no good. Creative spin to 90’s NYC classic song.

[ADAM & EVE] One thing that really stood out to me was the production, which is from GangStarr ‘Just To Get A Rep’ Produced By DJ Premier. It kinda reminds me of retro arcade video games. JU$TIN also showcases his ability to rap over different sounding beats, with this freestyle.

I asked JU$TIN what were his favorite tracks off the mixtape and this is what he had to say: “My 3 favorite tracks on the project are ‘Pain 4 Profit’, ‘Killer Tape, and ‘Last Laugh”. I like ‘Pain 4 Profit’ alot, because it’s an audio self portrait of my life and the obstacles I had to overcome. The listener can close their eyes and picture everything that I’m saying when they hear it. I felt it would be the perfect intro for anyone whose listening to me for the first time, because its an accurate depiction of who I am as an artist. ‘Killer Tape’ is my personal fav of all the freestyles that are on the tape, because I’m a big Wu-Tang fan and loved their whole movement and what they brought to the game, so when I found that ‘Clan N Da Front’ beat I wanted to pay homage to them by spazzing on it and going in. I listen to ‘Last Laugh’ alot, cuz I love how my flow fits perfect with Beat Bangaz dope beat. It has a cool trap vibe that I think people will mess with and the concept to that song is to stay focused and never worry about what a hater has to say, because you’ll always get the Last Laugh when you’re successful.”.

JU$TIN is currently working on some new merch items like posters, stickers, and some new graphic tees that will be up in his merch store very soon. He is also working on getting some visuals done during the Spring/Summer for some of the freestyles and songs on $treet ART 2.

Staying focused on going the indie route to build his brand up through music and creative side projects. He’s currently trying to get college radio airplay in the LA area and looking to book shows to expand the brand and push his movement forward. Be on the lookout for more content from JU$TIN by following him on his social media links below. This concludes my mixtape review on BX-LA Artist JU$TIN with his $treet Art 2 project.

Audio: Jack Vance – Growing Pains featuring Macahl Jett and Mecca

Processed with VSCOcam with b5 preset

[HOUSTON, TEXAS] Jack Vance makes his return to the site with his latest single GROWING PAINS featuring Macahl Jett and Mecca. Staying on this consistency of very conscious lyrics, after the success of his last track $300. GROWING PAINS shows us the difficulties of living life, trying to go after your dreams or get a job and get that money.

Jack Vance always find a way to recite his story. He even touches base on depression and the negativity that can come around due to not finding where you want to be. If you feel like you’re stuck in a corner, open your mind with GROWING PAINS. One thing I really like about this is the cover art, you shows while you grow things around you probably won’t still be there. Just gotta get through it. Make sure you follow Jack Vance on his Twitter to get updated on that new, new.

Album Review: Jamal G – To Whom It May Concern 2 – Final Draft

Jamal G TWIMC Cover

[BALTIMORE CITY, MD] After Jamal G’s debut on NikkiSiixx when we played his track If You Need That, and when I had an exclusive interview with him. Currently, Jamal G has released his album To Whom It May Concern 2: Final Draft. The album is a fourteen track in-depth story of Jamal.

[SCATTEREDBRAINED] Jamal G really opens up on the first track on the album. One thing that really stands out to me is his flow, and the genuine soul expressing himself the best way he can. Through his music! Jamal G even touches topics like working hard in achieving his goals, passed relationships, and he even talks about watching his own mother Oding. This is a really dope track! Get to know Jamal G.

[THESE WINGS] In a previous interview with Jamal G, I asked him what inspired this track and he said “These Wings was just something inspired by the space I was in at the time. I didn’t have a real direction for the album but I knew I wanted to make a statement for my community. I sent it to Husky and he wrote the hook and it was just on from there“. This song has to be one of my favorites from the project. From the production, and Jamal’s flow, it leaves you wanting more. Good thing this is just the second song of the album, here we go!

p1777326067-6[ARIEL’S LIFE IN HELL] Jamal G is one hell of a story teller, this track is focused on meeting someone and wanting to get to know them more. Its pretty dope because Jamal G included a female vocal to give Ariel more life on this track. The chemistry between the two is hard not to deny it. And it’s a crazy twist to the story, you just got to hear it for yourself.

[LET IT BE ME] When investing in your time in someone who you feel everything could go right, but yet when you hear the other person’s true emotions can truly be heartbreaking. Jamal G expresses how he feels about someone who left him when he was completely unaware. Love can be blind at times, but hopefully going through with that, Jamal G can open his eyes and find true love.

[QUESTIONS 4 PAC] Have you ever felt compelled to ask questions or advice from people who are no longer here? This time Jamal G looks for more answers by asking Tupac some questions. Hopefully he’ll gain more knowledge on the experience. This track reminded me when Kendrick Lamar had an edited conversation with Tupac on his “To Pimp The Butterfly“. Who wouldn’t want to be able to ask questions to a legendary rapper who inspired so much with his music. Find out what Jamal G discovered with his talk.

[CELEBRATION] After everything Jamal G has gone through, its time to celebrate! Celebrate because we’re alive and we can always better ourselves. To Whom It May Concern 2: Final Draft was a way for Jamal G to get a lot of issues off his chest. I feel this track can be relevant to anyone who appreciates life and wants to keep living in a positive way.

p1847730871-6

Jamal G always felt he was never going to conform to the norm. Looking up to his siblings and loved ones as aspects to his outlook on society. Jamal cultivated a perspective that’s widely shared through his community. In 2010, Jamal released his first offering under his neighborhood alias, Blizz, entitled “To Whom It May Concern.” The project provided opportunities to open up for artist such as Marsha Ambrosius, Rick Ross, and a host of other artist.

Jamal G has a very mature tone over the entire project To Whom It May Concern 2: Final Draft. It’s been described as “Mood music for the long drive home.” Jamal recently finished touring around the world sharing the news about his new album, “I’ve never attempted to make music for self exemplification or popularity. Music is the most unselfish thing that I can offer to my people as a glimmer of some sort of hope. There’s pain, triumph, and faith all wrapped up in this new project, I just my generation take the time to live with it, so it can properly effect our lives.“.

2015-03-10_22.26.24

“TWIMC2 is a picture of hope. It describes the mind of an emotionally suppressed man from the Y and millennial generation trying to figure it all out. This can potentially be one of the best independent releases this year. The message I want to get across is that, hope is better than defeat, pain doesn’t just expose you’re vulnerability but you’re humanity, and everything will ultimately work out for those who have Faith”. – JAMAL G

Album Review: Pennjamin Bannekar – Paper Plane Pilots

Pennjamin Bannekar paper plane pilots cover art

[CHICAGO] Pennjamin Bannekar is an artist who’s looking to express himself through his music. Penn has with his album Paper Plane Pilots! The twleve track project is a story from start to finish. From being involved in the music scene, to working things out in a long relationship, dealing with heartbreak, and with life afterwards.

pennjamin bannekarThis is not your regular type of hip-hop sounding project, the Paper Plane Pilots is filled with melodic R&B flows and amazing production from Flawless Tracks, !llmind, SuperstaarBeats, Canis Major and celebrity Chicago producer The Fr3shmen (producers for Fabolous, Jeremih, Cassie, Raekwon, and Travis Parker among others).

My favorite tracks off Pennjamin Bannekar’s album are Word, Penn & Paper (featuring Taylor Mallory & Lokachiran), Kill Button, Bodies (featuring Dhniera Blu), Thief (featuring Felly The Voice), Like We’re Broken Up (featuring Jessica Louise & Runway Bella), Here’s What I Think About U, and Congratulations. I feel the project benefits both female and male audiences. For females because of the diversity with R&B singers on the project and for the fellas because of his descriptive lyrics.

When it comes to creating a visual to bring what you say to life. With Penn, he was able to by releasing so far his music videos WORD, THIEF (featuring Felly The Voice), and LIKES. You can only find these tracks off the Paper Plane Pilots; take a look!

One of my favorite tracks has to be LIKE WE’RE BROKEN UP. I really like the chemistry between Pennjamin Bannekar, Jessica Louise & Runway Bella. They give the track a bit of a spunkiness. The song also reminds me of a 90’s pop/hip-hop track. Paper Plane Pilots is definitely a project that’s worth a listen and is filled with really dope tracks.

This concludes my review on the album, but if you’re diggin’ Paper Plane Pilots by Pennjamin Bannekar, then you should support the artist and get it on either iTunes, Amazing, and Google Play.

Audio: Case Arnold – I Wonder

I Wonder

Screen Shot 2015-09-15 at 6.08.29 PM[CLARKSVILLE, TENNESSEE] Case Arnold releases another track called I WONDER. Lately, Case has been dropping track after track, but still I wonder when is his full-length project will be released. I WONDER premiered off DJBooth.net. Producer Black Diamond provides that jazzy/old school vibe that Case Arnold fits well with this style of hip-hop. Case expresses how the world can put weight on your shoulders that can stress you out. In order to lighten up the situation, he feels that lighting one up can easily ease this unnecessary weight. Working through these road blocks (life issues), Case is working even harder into completely his full-length project. One thing that caught my attention was the I WONDER cover art. Being so simple but really shows a sense of humor with a googly eye to represent the I over a picture of grass. Check out the instagram footage of Case Arnold performing live in Orlando, Florida:

Orlando, thank you. I'll be back! #stillfamilia

Audio: Rapper Rich – Colt 45 [Produced By The Anthology & Mr. Compliment

colt45

colt45

Check out this dope collaboration between producers The Anthology & Mr. Compliment featuring South Florida Hip-Hop Artist Rapper Rich titled COLT 45. I feel like everyone can relate to this song. Since we do a get a bit stress and like to do something to get us out that bubble. WE might drink a beer, an alcoholic beverage, a smoke, couple of smokes, but it gives us that stress reliever. I’m really diggin’ the production on this beat, it has so much life.

We wanted to supply a real live hip hop feel, as you can tell it sounds like a party in the background as the song ends and the hook comes in. we had a lot of fun putting this track together and do it for the love of hip hop. Love from Broward county. – The Anthology

Music Video: Case Arnold – Life (The Way It Goes) featuring Petty

Screen Shot 2013-03-29 at 8.12.29 PM

Check out the latest music video from Case Arnold LIFE (THE WAY IT GOES) featuring Petty. The boys take us to beautiful Miami Beach where they are staying at The Fountainbleau. Enjoying the sites from the beach to Wynwood. LIFE is a track featured from Case Arnold’s The Myndstate. I really like this track, laid back… the exact feeling you get when you watch the video! Which was produced by A Devo Film.
