[PROJECT REVIEW] Madison Castle – B.O.A.T.S

madison castle boats

[LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA] Making his return to NikkiSiixx.com we have hip-hop socialist Madison Castle with his project titled B.O.A.T.S. Madison Castle was born and raised in Abingdon Virginia. Seeing the bigger picture and his love for creating music he had to make the epic sacrifice and head west to follow his dreams in making it. Currently living in Los Angeles, Madison Castle stays working. With his 5 track project B.O.A.T.S., I’ve decided to take a closer listen and here’s my review.

[ROLL IT UP] What a great track to start the project off. I feel the chemistry between Madison Castle and Jayson Mitchell. From Madison’s witty lyrics and Jayson’s vocals this is the track you want to press repeat too! Especially lighting one up and vibing out to this. Really like the choice in production and this track is one of my favorites of the project. Madison Castle also released a music video for his first single from B.O.A.T.S. I actually had him featured on my [Nikki Hears It First] Series for Episode 12. Let’s see what I thought about his ROLL IT UP video.

[LOUDMILK] By the second track you can tell Madison Castle has a talent with diversity with his tracks. Even though the production is slow, his flow is fast. Madison sounds amazing on this track. The female vocals on this track really gives a trance like essence.

[EL DORADO] Here comes the club mix! I can see everyone dancing to this one. Madison Castle has his eye on girl on the dance floor. He emphasizes all the things he sees what they can do together, like enjoying life with her and all the unlimited possibilities.

[GHOST] If you’re dealing with heartbreak and not over that significant other that has moved on, this is the track for you. And you know damn well she’s not over you so you feel like you’re the ghost that haunts her. The overall production, vibe, and flow of this track is remarkable. This song has been on repeat for me for a while now.

This concludes my review on Madison Castle’s B.O.A.T.S. For the 5 track project I found 4 of the tracks to be my favorites that really stand out to me. Be on the lookout for more content from Madison Castle. And make sure you follow him on all his social media links below!

[PROJECT REVIEW] Uncle TreY – nostalgianticipation

nostalgianticipationcover

[Monroe Country, PA] Making his return on NikkiSiixx.com, we have hip-hop artist Uncle Trey bringing us his project nostalgianticipation. We recently just featured his singles for MOJO & JUST A SUMMER LOVE, and doing a reaction video to those visuals as well. Uncle TreY has been working non-stop to perfect his latest project. And within the first listen I was already hooked, the thirteen track journey takes us in the perspective of TreY growing up and dealing with obstacles. nostalgianticipation contains a slew of 90’s samples that gives you that nostalgic feel to it.

Here’s a bit of his backstory before we get into the review. Uncle TreY is a Bronx born rapper currently residing in Monroe County, PA. Avoiding being conformed to a specific hip hop genre, he bases his music off of everyday life experiences and creates songs using profound & anomalous concepts. Having garnered a strong buzz on the internet & the local underground scene, he’s now looking to take the next step in hopes of reaching a larger audience… the world.

For nostalgianticipation, I’ll be reviewing my favorite and most stand out tracks on the project. Uncle TreY made it difficult, considering there’s a lot of solid work on it. So far my choices are: Uncle Hyde, Acknowledgement, Lost Cause, Mojo, Just A Summer Love, Excuses, and Just Living.

edit-2-2-2[01. UNCLE HYDE] Instantly, I would say this was the best song on the project and the best way to start it off. With Uncle TreY dealing with his dark side, it sounds like it got the best of him. From the choice of production by TreAces, and the flow Uncle TreY presents. It’s hard not to jam out to this one.

[02. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT] Its time to take notice, Uncle TreY has been working hard towards making it in his music career. People will be hating, and be more in disbelief considering his making it on his own. This track was produced by The Chase.

[05. LOST CAUSE] Even though this track has two songs in it. But I’m really feeling the beginning of it with Lost Cause. Straightjackits is cool, but Lost Cause really caught my attention. Uncle TreY talks on topics about Black Lives Matter and the disruption of politics. Lost Cause has this hard-hitting bass with smooth flow by Uncle TreY.

[08. MOJO] is perfect for the summer time. Uncle TreY talks about how he got his confidence back. He tells us a story how things started and how it turns out, with a specific girl. And how they even try to come back in his life after so long of not communicating with them. The hook is catchy, and has me singing along.

Check out my reaction to the visual to MOJO/JUST A SUMMER LOVE on
[Nikki Hears It First] Episode Nine:

[09. JUST A SUMMER LOVE] takes us back on a summer love he’s reminiscing about someone he hooked up with. Throughout the track Uncle TreY kinda focus on a specific listener, the one who he experienced that love affair with. Uncle TreY’s flow is on point and the content is very descriptive.

[11. EXCUSES] This song blew my mind. The hint of R&B by singer Ballad on the vocals, and Uncle TreY opening up about relationships and some stories. Really gives that 90’s R&B vibe, that you gotta vibe out to this one. I find this track might be a favorite for the lady listeners.

[13. JUST LIVING] Uncle TreY sounds amazing on this track. He’s able to maintain his flow on beat, and is super real with his lyrics. At the moment he’ll be interested but then lose interest. The women may feel confused but those are how things are. With Uncle TreY main focus is his music, the women he’s with might get it twisted. This track gives you a funky late-night production by Gold Haze and Rich Rescigno. Harmonies and hook by the beautiful Mariam.

This concludes my review of Uncle TreY’s nostalgianticipation. For the thirteen track journey, Uncle TreY took us on a ride. The project contains a lot of solid material, good vibes, and tough topics. What did you guys think about nostalgianticipation? Which were your favorite tracks? If you want a free digital copy of nostalgianticipation make sure you go to ItsBetterThanMusic.com. If you’re diggin Uncle TreY as much as I am, make sure you show support and follow him on all his social media.

[Project Review] That Man Santiago – Nightlife Fifty-Five

Nightlife Fifty-Five (Front)

that man santiago 1[CHICAGO, IL] After working over a year to finalize, That Man Santiago has recorded and mixed his latest project Nightlife Fifty-Five at Soundscape Studios. Embracing his environment, the inspiring upcoming artist from Chicago created an honest project on a person’s thoughts before and after hitting the night life in their city. The ambience of Nightlife Fifty-Five definitely provides those night vibes.

According to That Man Santiago “During the length of the tape I travel between thoughts of “turning up” and not worrying about the consequences, to thinking about the repercussions of my actions. The tape touches upon the idea that we are all filled with contradictions; however those contradictions are what help us learn and grow as people.” Now let’s take a chill pill and ride out with my review on That Man Santiago’s project Nightlife Fifty-Five. I’ll be discussing my favorites off the eleven track project. Which are:

that man santiago[NIGHTLIFE] Where we start off with this track, if feels like you’ve been dancing at the club, already about 2:30am. The music sets a seductive vibe while That Man Santiago sets the mood for his club banger, while he’s talking to the girl he wants to take home.

[SNOW TRACKS] At the beginning of the track we get the weather news report that discuss the heavy snow that we’ll be arriving throughout the night, expected 10 feet of snow. Too cold to go outside and too much snow to deal with. That Man Santiago lets you know what he’s up to on this winter track.

[WHAT DO YOU KNOW] On this track That Man Santiago gets a bit rough when he finds out someone’s talking when they don’t know nothing about him. He’ll laugh it off at the beginning but if it persists he’s going to have to handle his.

[SOME DAYS] I feel that if you’re dealing with a relationship that you find yourself wanting to leave them, fix things, walk away, or stay forever. The emotions of trying to get yourself together and your significant other trying to do the same, but yet the balance may not be right. It’s either work things out or have it all come to an end, but will that day be today?

[OCARINA] At times it feels best to get with the past, with something that’s ocarina-of-time-linkfamiliar. But according to time you just can’t. It’s all about moving forward and staying focus. But it seems to be That Man Santiago is getting distracted by Ocarina. I really felt as if she was real, so I had to ask and look what I found out:

NikkiSiixx: Who’s Ocarina?
That Man Santiago: Ocarina is more of a metaphore than a person. Its based of the game “Ocarina of Time” from Zelda lol. In the game, the Ocarina was a flute that could make a person travel through time. In the song, “Ocarina” stands for me wanting to go back in time and fix things I’ve done. But towards the end of the song, during the second verse, I realize that you can’t move forward when you’re chasing the past.

[REASON (BONUS)] This track actually surprised me considering the overall sound from the previous songs. Surprised me in a very good way. I like how diverse That Man Santiago demonstrates he’s styles and how melodic he can become. And what a romantic! This track is meant for the ladies. This would have to be my favorite track off the entire project.

This concludes my project review on Nightlife Fifty-Five with hip-hop artist That Man Santiago. The project exhibits feelings of emotions when it comes to some affairs that take place at night. It’s kinda like people get influence by the night life and dealing with those problems in the morning. I find the project to have a great story to tell and great listens.

If you’re diggin’ the project as much as I am, please download your copy at THATMANSANTIAGO.COM all you need to do is provide your email address and the tape is yours. Also, follow That Man Santiago on his social media outlets to get an update on what’s coming up next.

Mixtape Review: Caddy Pack – GOOD

Caddy_Pack_Waka_Flocka_Flame_Mello_Charmillz_Yo-front-large

As Caddy Pack makes her debut on NikkiSiixx with her visual to her lead single KANYE, I bring you an exclusive review on her GOOD Mixtape. The twelve track project presents us with different styles to Caddy Packs rhymes. She has the capability to rap fast and on beat. Caddy Pack’s GOOD Mixtape also has features from Waka Flocka Flame, Mello Charmillz, and Young KB. Caddy Pack has impeccable punchlines, that she presents her self with an innovative style to her flows. Caddy Pack should be considered a gem since its rare to find a female artist in her parts of the world. She is always opened to new ideas, especially when it comes to working with music producers from a different range of genres. Caddy Pack is able to write her own rhymes and you might even catch her singing a hook or two. My favorite tracks off the GOOD Mixtape are I Bet She Go, Money In My Pocket, Hustle Grind, Cookies and Bass, and KAYNE.

caddy-pack-websiteI BET SHE GO This track continues off the GOOD Intro. Caddy Pack brings that club-crunk vibe along side Atlanta Artist Waka Flocka Flame. She rips it with her fast rhymes while giving us something to bump to.

MONEY IN MY POCKET Is such a fun song! Caddy Pack goes in what she does with the money in her pocket. “IF I LIKE IT. THEN I ROCK IT. I GOT MONEY IN MY POCKET“..its super catchy. I even like how Caddy Pack adds the aggressive growl/roar to the hook. Who wouldn’t want to use their money on things that they want.

HUSTLE GRIND Caddy Pack was able to engage the trap sound that HUSTLE GRIND brings to the table. Also, on the track is with Switzerland Artist Mello Charmillz. I think they both should make more music together. I really like how the song came out as a whole.

COOKIES AND BASS Caddy Pack experiments in the world of EDM with the production that brings us some electronic sounds and some heavy bass. The electronic sounds remind me of an old arcade game sounds (8bit). Caddy Pack takes a witty approach with what she has to say. You can find the visual to this video on her youtube channel: CADDY PACK.

KAYNE represents the person you want to be, someone whose successful and truly believes in themselves. The Beat was produced by Tuny Chris and the video was directed by Marco Giglio. For the track KANYE, I find the hook to be very catchy! This song makes you feel unstoppable. This song is meant for the ones who are confident and are ready to take over the world. Watch now the music video for KAYNE via NikkiSiixx.

Surprisingly, Caddy Pack is only 4’9 Tall but she can fill a room with her energy. Which will leave a fascination with the audience. She gets hundreds of people to call and response to her and her songs even though many hear them for the first time. Until now she has had shows over all Germany and is ready for her international breakthrough. Be on the lookout, I’ll be doing an interview with Caddy Pack soon. And don’t forget to follow her on all her social media links.

Project Review: Idiotic Oddity – Idiotic Oddity EP

idiotic-oddity

[NAPTOWN, INDIANAPOLIS] Idiotic Oddity is a unique artist that mixes hip-hop, pop, and rock within his genre. This presents a wide arrange of sounds that Idiotic Oddity adapted to quickly. You may think is a bit out of the norm, but who is normal nowadays? Oddity’s also does his own vocals, making an appearance on his hooks/chorus. Really catchy! Wanting me to press replay. Idiotic Oddity released his self titled EP Idiotic Oddity. I find this to be a great introduction to who Oddity is as an artist. The refreshing production and melodies reminded me of one of my favorite Indie Electronic Duos The Limousines. With a dancy 80’s synth and 90’s influenced pop. But Idiotic Oddity provides a hip-hop flow to his verses. Idiotic Oddity EP is a five track project, here’s what I thought about my favorite tracks off of it.

CERTAIN WAY One thing I really like about this song is the production and the catchiness of the hook. Oddity expresses his interest in someone whose not giving the attention he wanted, so he just had to let them go. Admitting his true feelings to her, knowing he’ll be burning their bridge of friendship since he knew the feelings weren’t reciporcal. Regardless, in a way it’s for the best, since he started to feel like he was being led on from a far.

EVERYTHING TO ME Here’s another track where Oddity is expressing himself to a woman of interest. Predicting scenarios if they were to be together. One thing I like about this track is Oddity’s slower flow. You’re able to fully listen to his dialogue and I feel he gets his point across.

TONIGHT ALONE Oddity has the capability to make a catchy hook! Here’s a track where the production takes us more on the rock and roll side. Oddity adapted a faster delivery over the guitar riffs. It just goes to show that Idiotic Oddity is able to work on different sounding music. This track really gives off an indie electronic style. Which I don’t mind because I enjoy that type of genre.

Screen Shot 2015-10-09 at 3.47.00 PMIdiotic Oddity is inspired from artist like Frank Ocean, Drake, Tyler The Creator, and Childish Gambino. You can sense what artists inspired how he took his hooks and melodies with Frank Ocean and Drake while Tyler The Creator and Childish Gambino inspired his lyrical approach to his storytelling. With Oddity and his music it catches the listeners’s attention and sparking their curiosity. If you’re diggin’ the Idiotic Oddity EP make sure to listen via SPOTIFY. And follow him on all his social media links to stay in the loop.

Project Review: Stephen Bradley – Runaways

Screen-Shot-2015-07-20-at-21.47.22

Stephen Bradley Cover[Los Angeles, California] Stephen Bradley isn’t exactly what you’d call a noobie musician. If the name “No Doubt” rings a bell, then you’ve probably heard some form of this mans work since he’s been a member of the band for a while. This new EP isn’t about the past though, so don’t let it weigh to heavily on your mind as you’re listening. Bradley has come to us with the offer of a 4 song EP, meant to show us what he can do on his own. The project is without a doubt a feel-good collection of songs. The subject matter is down to earth and easy to relate to. It doesn’t cover a wide range of topics but that’s only because of its brevity. A full length album from him seems like it would be very interesting.

Take You Home” is a standout track on the project. The production is electric and mesh perfectly with Stephen Bradley’s voice and lyrics. It’s your typical “holla at a fly shorty” affair, but it’s sung so enigmatically that I couldn’t stop myself from moving along to the beat.

The only drawback about this EP is that it makes you wish it was longer. Although, that can be taken as a compliment towards the strength of the few songs that are offered. It’s great to see Stephen Bradley doing something outside of No Doubt and making a pretty good go of it. It’s worth a listen for anyone that appreciates a smooth groove and tight production. It’s short, but sweet.

Project Review: BLACK-EP – Lyric Le’Velle

unnamed-2

[Fort Worth, TexasAlbum Cover] Hot on the heels of his single, Proud (reviewed here), Lyric Le’Velle has released the excellent BLACK-EP. Le’Velle worked with multiple producers on this EP in order to provide a varied soundscape for your enjoyment. He explores many different types of sounds in order to flex his lyrical muscles and succeeds in almost all of his attempts.

The first track on the EP, Tainted Intro, acts as a mission statement for the songs that are to follow. He lets you know what’s up with lyrically precise bravado as he raps “Now we in this moth******er, ten toes deep/kickin’ game, speakin’ slang mainly kinfolk speak”. He asserts himself as having both his feet firmly planted in the rap game and as willing to reach out to those willing to understand his language.

unnamed-3Speaking of which, he definitely takes the language of lyrics and makes it all his own. He’s a gifted story teller whose words don’t just explain his world, but actually bring you right into it. Tell Me  takes us on a journey through Texas, Hunger  has you riding along with Lyric Le’Velle in a world where it’s tough to make ends meet, and he has his greatest story telling moment on the emotionally charged Trissa.

Trissa  is a standout track. If hip hop was an exam, then Lyric Le’Velle would pass the story telling section with an A+ because of this song. In the interest of not spoiling it for first time listeners there won’t be any more details in this review, so definitely bump that joint and run it back a couple of times. Trissa  comes from a very real place and after hearing Le’Velle spit the lyrics, you can’t help but feel like you’re getting to know him or at least you’re getting to know his mind.

Sonically, there are a couple risks taken on this EP and some work better than others. US  sees the Fort Worth rhyme slinger trying to jazz up the EP over a beat with a saxophone that can be a little bit jarring and doesn’t fully gel with the rest of the project. On the other hand we have the excellent Session #2  which, while it also seems like a departure from the overall sound spectrum of the EP, is a perfect marriage of interesting production and introspective lyrics.

The album has nearly no stumbles, takes risks in the right places, has excellent beats and, most of all, it has a consistent level of high quality lyricism throughout. The BLACK-EP doesn’t pretend to be turn up music. It also doesn’t try to beat you over the head with the lyrics by jamming too many words into a small place. This album’s success is in its personality. Lyric Le’Velle shows us that Lyricism isn’t about how many syllables you can jam into a bar, but it’s about if you can make a complete stranger feel you.

Mission accomplished.
