I’ve always felt like Boston, MA is a place with a lot of hidden talent and today I get to put the spotlight on Boston’s own Megan V. The 23 year old R&B songstress drops off her first ever single “You Thought Wrong” produced by P Dub. It’s an anthem for woman fed up with men that toy with their emotions. Megan V. is expected to keep up the momentum by releasing more music soon and there’s even a mixtape in the works for this summer. Kick back, enjoy this smooth track and be sure to follow Megan V. on Instagram.
[Queens, New York] R&B sensation Rich McMichael presents his debut single “No Chill”, the self proclaimed bedroom anthem. Full of deep bass and sensual tones, the Queens singer hits all the right notes, leaving the lucky lady in the song and listeners in a zone. Fans of Tre Songs will find Rich appealing to the ear as well. Cut off the Netflix, dim the lights and press play on Rich McMichael‘s “No Chill” up above.
[Little Chalfont, United Kingdom] UK singer Jack Garratt collaborates with Dr. Dre protege, Anderson .Paak, for a rivoting play on Garratt’s “Worry” track from his currently released “Phase” album. The Brit handles himself very impressively over the instrumental’s rhythm, with .Paak playing clean up towards the tail end. Pulverizing organs, live drums and electric guitars make up the soundscape with lyrics that will put your mind at ease. Listen to the song above and stay in tune with Jack Garratt below.
21 year old producer Anson was inspired by Mike Posner and he’s own remix and brought us I TOOK A PILL IN IBZIA. As soon as Anson heard @conormaynard cover to this, he knew he needed to add some tropical vibes to it. I’ve heard this track over and over, probably about 15 times. And I really like the vibes and the overall production is effortless. Shout out to Anson for this dope remix and his love for making software and eating bagels. Make sure you follow Anson on his Twitter Account @AnsonLongSeabra!
[JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA] Making his debut on NikkiSiixx.com, we have inspiring artist Dez Nado with his latest album LaDolceVita! Dez Nado was able to bring a unique, politically/social conscious rap. When I first listened to this album, I felt he was speaking for the people who have dealt with heinous acts of violence because the difference in their skin color. All these injustices that led to the Black Lives Matter Movement.
What I really like about Dez Nado as an artist, he doesn’t rap the false pretenses of a rapper’s lifestyle. He’s more about bringing the light to all the darkness that’s plaguing our country. What’s also unique about Dez Nado he produces and stars in his own locally air cable reality TV series called “Life & Grind: Duval” (airs Sundays at 8pm on Bounce Network – Comcast 225/Digital 17-2). This Tv Series shines the spotlight on local talent here in Jacksonville, including himself, in addition to producing his own music.
LaDolceVita was featured on 360Magazine, Thisis50, Hip Hop Reviews 4D, and DownSouthHipHop. This time I’m going to have an in-depth review of LaDolceVita. My favorite tracks from Dez Nado’s album are LaDolceVita, Prelude 2 Revolution, American Dream, Duele, Luv The Way U Do, Fed Up, Pain, More 2 Life, and Immigrant Story. Check out what I thought about Dez Nado’s LaDolceVita:
[01. LADOLCEVITA] – What a way to introduce you to Dez Nado, from the triumphant sounding production and vocals by Jermeka Monae. This track is meant for the ones who work for what they want. All about the hard hustle and getting the deserving accomplishments. Enjoying life to the fullest with what you got and being appreciated. Great and positive energy that pours through the speakers.
[03. PRELUDE 2 REVOLUTON] Dez Nado puts together an interlude that has actual audio clips from Tupac talking about the Panthers and the government. Then an activist who supports Black Lives Matter and how they’re reacting to the un-justice for all the lives lost, and a very extremely powerful poetic spoken-word speech regarding all the violence that has been occurring through police brutality and voicing her right for her anger.
[04. AMERICAN DREAM] Dez Nado expresses he’s thoughts on all the victims that have been happening due to police brutality. Unnecessary roughness that ended the lives of these innocent unarmed victims. All Dez Nado is asking for is peace and equality. The track also features Jermeka Monae with the vocals and Tyler Norris with the poetic speech at the end of the track.
[06. DUELE] How couldn’t post this track? Showing love for the Boriqua’s Dez Nado show’s his skills in rapping in Spanish and English. Love the production of this track! The song makes us visuals Dez Nado in Puerto Rico meeting a beautiful Puerto-Rican and she gives him a tour of the city. A mix of salsa, hip-hop, and R&B makes you want to dance to the beat. DUELE features Jermeka Monae, Gabriele and Twenty8.
[11. FED UP] It starts with a reality check, listen to what the voice has to say. The track really provides with the production a hard hitting bass with Royal Francis providing bars for the first verse. On the hook and second verse we got Dez Nado. He’s giving a word of an advice to not pay attention to the ones who don’t believe in you and you’re able to do what your heart wants.
[14. MORE 2 LIFE] Dez Nado gets mean on this one, how can you not! Getting frustrated with the system, and working hard and not getting the joys of life. The track features Meanz of Operation, I find their collaboration to be pretty dope. A lot of energy and emotion on this track.
[17. IMMIGRANT STORY] Dez Nado takes us on a journey like no other. An immigrant’s point of view of living in circumstances that are life threatening and what can happen to Syrian’s that are struggling to survive. It’s an amazing tale, so descriptive and Dez Nado is very passionate with this story. If you close your eyes you can watch the movie play. Take a listen you won’t regret it.
This concludes my album review of Dez Nado’s LADOLCEVITA. Conscious rapper from Jacksonville, Florida making a choice to talk about what’s really important over great production. Be on the look out for more content from Dez Nado coming soon.
I would like to start this new segment here on NikkiSiixx.com, it’s called SUPER GIRL SPOTLIGHT. Here’s where I’m giving the true super girls a spotlight where they can let their true talents shine. Our first feature brings us AILAWISHES from AILAWISHES.COM. She’s a bright light when it comes to bringing her projects to life. Ailawishes tells us her super moves when it comes to being a songwriter, screenwriter, aspiring actress, and artist development/management. Being able to maintain it all, Ailawishes takes our Super Girl Spotlight and here’s her biography to get to know her story:
“I discovered my talent when I was 13 years of age. I used to compose hip-hop verses yet never imparted them to anybody in light of my timid emotional disposition. In the wake of graduating school, I appropriated a call, being a yearning model in Hollywood, California who educated herself and became an on-screen character by the name of Brandon Hammond, from Soul Food. I was intrigued by directing a short film that I had written three years back. Excited by the opportunity, I sent her initially my finished motion picture script, Ex-Boyfriend, to Hammond. Sending my work for review, motivated myself to take my writing to a much higher platform. Its no big surprise I had such capable genes as the late extraordinary Dizzy Gillespie is my great-uncle.
In 2001, I began working for a record label where I found myself in artist development. My roster included managing R&B and Hip-hop groups. This opportunity allowed me to gain experience in the marketing field through club promotions and learn the business at an early age. I was so serious about my position and my artist, that the radio stations gave me the nickname “Ms Shugg“.
In 2009, I chose to distribute Floetic Whispers and received great reviews. Some came from big names in the entertainment/music business. After the book release, I was contacted by A&R for Columbia Records. They approached me to compose for one of their R&B singers Adina Howard. Since, I have been writing on an upcoming album for an R&B artists signed to rapper THE GAME’s label.
I have written a children’s book, Heaven’s Library Journey, and began a Non-Profit Organization, A-Kidz Wishes, to push ability in low-wage neighborhoods. I happened to offer many books around the U.S., furthermore encompassing nations. Furthermore, I have several other books that are available now. In July 2013, iNote Publishing has started. –AilaWishes”

The first Sultry Sounds of the New Year is the All Stars Edition which will be held on January 13th in D.C. DMV artists like Kenny Sharp, Davonne D’Neil, Finao Love, and Marquita Cheron will be performing for their fans and will bring the music that you feel in your soul. This is that young soul music, the new generation of that soul music that is missing a lot in today’s music.
Kenny Sharp – Kenny Sharp has a unique style of in his song ‘Brown Liquor Music’ by storytelling and keeping it simple with just a guitar playing in the background so you can really focus on his lyrics rather than the beat of the song. He has a country feel to his music but its more up-tempo than your normal country song that you will hear on the radio. It adds his twists to it so even if you don’t like country music, you would still enjoy it. In his track ‘Fine As Wine’, he changed up the music and flow than what he had in his Brown Liquor. He uses more musical instruments (i.e. drums and keyboard) and it has a flow like the open mic and poetry slams you would attend. Listening to it, I got the feeling that I was listening to a Kendrick Lamar track. ‘Will I Love You’ has a 90s feel to it. The music he decided to use on this track is a feel good sound. If you love music that makes you want to get up and dance or just lay back and relax, this is that song. As an artist, Kenny Sharp is able to change up his sound and keep you interested at each change and have you thinking he can really do it all. Kenny is an artist that you need to look out for. To listen to his tracks, you can go to his page on Sound Cloud.
Davonne D’Neil – Davonne D’Neil is a gifted artist with a true God given talent. Her song ‘Deeper’ draws you in when you hear the first of the beat and her voice comes in. This track just works just because of the flow it has. The music, the beat, her lyrics, her voice, everything, just absolutely everything goes together and you are given this awesome sound where you will just want to forget all of your problems. ‘Sugha Pie’ shows the vocals of D’Neil. She really put her heart and soul into this track. You can tell by the lyrics that whoever her “sugah pie” is, he has really put a spell on her. ‘Careless Love’ starts with the 1940s maybe 1950s piece from a song and eventually, you hear D’Neil’s voice. She keeps the flow of the 40s or 50s to give you that mix of swing and jazz music that makes you snap your fingers and bob your head to the beat and close your eyes to hear the lyrics. To listen to her tracks, you can go to her page on Sound Cloud.
Finao Love – If you are into the somewhat newer R&B genre, you will love Finao Love. When I first heard Love’s song ‘Down’, I immediately started enjoying it. His lyrics aren’t too provocative to where you wouldn’t enjoy it. It has bearable and sensational lyrics with a nice rhythm of music that soothes you. ‘My Girl Be Trippin’ has the fast paced musical beat that brings the track to life. Love speaks about his girl being jealous whenever he would leave their home together. She would think that he was out with other girls or just doing things he shouldn’t be doing. He tells her she needs to learn how to love and trust. He is willing to work on their relationship and grow with her. Finao Love has a track that is called ‘She Likes It’. This particular song has this dance type vibe to it when it first comes on and it suddenly drops to a nice and study beat. The beat picks back up and you will hear DMV Ferris’s come in with his rap.
Marquita Cheron – Marquita Cheron has a track called ‘Circus’. This song is her saying that her she is not a fool or some side show that is for a guy’s entertainment. She continues to say that she is so much more than just a “circus show” and deserve so much better than what this particular person is making her feel. This song is an anthem for the women who are being mistreated by their supposed to be loves of their lives in my personal opinion. She is telling them that you have to know your own self-worth and you have to have the courage to leave and remove someone or people who doesn’t respect what you are worth. ‘Falling Deeper’ is her being in love song with someone very special in her life. She catches herself falling deeper and deeper in love with the way they smell, their voice, and everything else about them. It is a song that will make you feel like a teenager seeing your crush and you get the butterflies in your stomach. ‘Rain Quiet Storms’ is basically ‘Rain’ by SWV. If you love SWV then you would definitely love Cheron’s track. You have the rainfall sound effects with the soft music and the Cheron’s voice coming in singing the lyrics of SWV but you will eventually hear the creative lyrics of hers that flows with the song.

[LOS ANGELES] Making his debut on NikkiSiixx.com, the upcoming Arizona native emcee/singer Chad Michael has released his EP Rain. The six track collection of songs portray a compelling story-line from a man pursing his dreams. During 2014-2015, Chad Michael went to college and moved to Southern California to make a career in music.
Going through the experiences he endured and lesson’s learned, Chad Michael wanted to express this on the Rain EP. All produced by Oregon Producer Emotion Beats. They were able to work together and really give the feel of rain fall, because of the records up and downs. Throughout the 25 minute journey, how can you not relate to Chad Michael. My favorite tracks of the Rain Ep are Evolution, Different, Weekend Love, and Rain. Here’s what I thought about my favorite tracks:
EVOLUTION is a track that shows off Chad Michael’s verbal capabilities! By showing us how fast and creative his lyricism can be. Considering this is the first track off the EP and the first song I hear from Chad Michael, this is definitely a great introduction. He lets the listener know the bullshit he’s been through and what he’s doing to prevail in his music career. Dope flow!
DIFFERENT is a track where Chad Michael expresses his time growing up in Arizona and making the big move to California. Retouching his roots Chad realizes things change and things will become different. Visual Directors Danny Gauthier and Chad M. Arechiga bring Chad Michael’s music video to his first single DIFFERENT.
WEEKEND LOVE here’s a track where Chad Michael becomes a hopeless romantic. When needing love you just have to take it slow or do what just feels right. But due to his career and the long distance, the commitment just doesn’t feel right. With what the entertainment industry is trying to show the artist, that the most important thing is getting money and fucking bitches. Messes with the mind, but not the heart.
RAIN I find this track to be very poetic with a heavy introspective perspective. With the simple production, it really makes you concentrate with what Chad Michael’s had to say. The twenty-four year old artist who has potential in making his mark in the hip-hop scene. RAIN also shows Chad’s melodic and soulful side to his music.
Chad uses ‘Rain’ as an opportunity to continue to explore and refine his burgeoning mixture of sounds. Whether crooning softly to an old flame or attempting to navigate the difficulty of societal pressures, the young artist’s intelligence, raw ability, and passion shine
With the beginning of the year underway, Chad Michael is expected to have collaborations with established artists and some new music videos as well! Be on the lookout for more content and take a listen to the Rain Ep.
[MILWAUKEE, WI] Soulful Artist Klassik brings us an original freestyle inspired by Montell Jordan. This freestyle is meant for the ladies. Klassik went into create mode and flipped the 90’s R&B track by sampling his own background vocals from the VOICELIVE into Ableton. Then recorded all live in his bedroom, where he took one take with no post-production and no lyrics written. CAN’T BE (HER) freestyle was created with Klassik’s fusion of Hip-Hop and Jazz, and pays homage to legends from the past.

[CHICAGO] Pennjamin Bannekar is an artist who’s looking to express himself through his music. Penn has with his album Paper Plane Pilots! The twleve track project is a story from start to finish. From being involved in the music scene, to working things out in a long relationship, dealing with heartbreak, and with life afterwards.
This is not your regular type of hip-hop sounding project, the Paper Plane Pilots is filled with melodic R&B flows and amazing production from Flawless Tracks, !llmind, SuperstaarBeats, Canis Major and celebrity Chicago producer The Fr3shmen (producers for Fabolous, Jeremih, Cassie, Raekwon, and Travis Parker among others).
My favorite tracks off Pennjamin Bannekar’s album are Word, Penn & Paper (featuring Taylor Mallory & Lokachiran), Kill Button, Bodies (featuring Dhniera Blu), Thief (featuring Felly The Voice), Like We’re Broken Up (featuring Jessica Louise & Runway Bella), Here’s What I Think About U, and Congratulations. I feel the project benefits both female and male audiences. For females because of the diversity with R&B singers on the project and for the fellas because of his descriptive lyrics.
When it comes to creating a visual to bring what you say to life. With Penn, he was able to by releasing so far his music videos WORD, THIEF (featuring Felly The Voice), and LIKES. You can only find these tracks off the Paper Plane Pilots; take a look!
One of my favorite tracks has to be LIKE WE’RE BROKEN UP. I really like the chemistry between Pennjamin Bannekar, Jessica Louise & Runway Bella. They give the track a bit of a spunkiness. The song also reminds me of a 90’s pop/hip-hop track. Paper Plane Pilots is definitely a project that’s worth a listen and is filled with really dope tracks.
[MIAMI, FLORIDA] Singer Songwriter Kirby Maurier releases the first music video from her independent album Doing The Most. Bringing to life her single that is super catchy with S.P.P (Sweet Potato Pie). The premiere comes in time for the holiday season. The visual takes us to Kirby Maurier who is baking some Sweet Potato Pies with her lady friends. Then she goes and makes a special delivery which is apart of a setup? Wonder if the video is going to continue the story in her next music video.
On Doing The Most first week’s release, it was featured on iTunes and Apple Music. I preordered it and it’s definitely worth it. S.P.P. video was directed by Bleu Odin, Kirby Maurier and Motivator. Produced by Vegas Fontaine, Written by Kirby Maurier, Recorded by Vegas Fontaine, Mixed by Danny “The Architect” Russo.
[ATLANTA, GEORGIA] Rapper/Singer-Songwriter Yourz Truly, started out as an R&B Artist that later adapted the hip-hop flows since he became a freestyle battle rapper. But concentrating more on the musical route, Yourz Truly releases his overall positive track GOING IN FOR LIFE that showcases a true uplifting feeling. In these days where we feel the need to share our lives online it feels to hear it be addressed in a song. Lucille gives us this soulful single that speaks of what really goes on in the world over this Pure Quality Jay track. I felt like she was singing directly to me seeing how my last relationship ended because of drama brought on by social media. I guarantee you many ladies will find this song relatable from the point of view that Lucille is singing and many of the guys will feel as I did. Many of people put up a social media façade nowadays to cover up what is really going on and to hide their feelings. The lyrics of this song paint such a vivid picture of just that. She even went into detail of what she was writing on each social networking and the types of photos she posted. I honestly think this song deserves a great deal of attention and promotion because it’s something that everyone can relate to. I definitely will be checking out her EP “Birthday” based on this song. Check it out below.
[Los Angeles, California]
The stand alone followup to her debut EP, Time Travel, Jasmine Jordan’s infectious voice has us happily bopping along with her song Smile.
The video makes great use of color in order to convey the different types of emotions she’s singing about. With the current state of the game, music videos are often something you just do to get them out of the way and little thought is put into how they complement the song. It’s great to see how Jasmine’s visual goes against that way of thinking in order to enrich the song. After listening to it on Soundcloud, I had all sorts of warm colors in my mind based off of the production and lyrics alone. It was really nice to see those colors put on screen almost as if they had been ripped right from my mind.
Pleasant video. Worth a watch/listen for the soulful R&B Heads out there.
[VIRGINIA] Sometimes with the path of relationships you go all in and become hopeful you found someone special, then it leads to something that just feels absolutely hopeless. Emcee Lew Sid is able to portray it on his first official single off his upcoming project in 2016, with AIN’T GONNA WORK IT OUT. The track samples Mayer Hawthorne’s “Just Aint Gonna Work Out“, and Howard Coolin was able to give that hip-hop style with some R&B. Lew Sid in his visual take on AIN’T GONNA WORK OUT you see two scenarios of what he dealt with in awkward relationship moments. You just have to watch the video for yourself to see what Lew Sid went through. The video was directed by Monte Battle and Andre Jones. The creative visual features Jasmine Garcia, Ladarrious Prim, and Kat. I thought the video was pretty funny. My favorite part is the DJ’s reaction to his first girl leaving him. What’s your favorite part of Lew Sid’s music video AIN’T GONNA WORK OUT?
