Making his return after a bit of a hiatus, hip-hop creative Marley Brooker releases his OXYS & MAMIS Album (Deluxe Edition). This is the second part of its official release, which includes seven new songs plus remixes/revisions. Embracing the trap genre for the first time, Marley Brooker embodies wavy melodies over hard-hitting bass.
A bit of background on Marley “Crookz” Brooker the founder of The Relentless Empire is a living example of the maxim “it ain’t where you’re from, it’s where you’re at”. The Miami-based musician, poet, producer and former University of Washington student has lived everywhere from the East Coast to the West Coast to the Dirty South. With family in the Bahamas and stints in Miami, New York, New Jersey, Boston and Seattle the cultural influences on the young entertainer have been varied and deep and show themselves in the flexibility and variety of his style.
OXYS & MAMIS definitely provides a unique sound with its high powered production. The sixteen track album gives you an underlining of consciousness through clever lyrics touching topics about Miami nights to the fullest. During the listen I found twelve of those tracks to be good listens but I found that six of those tracks really stood out to me. And they were The Eagle, Versace Shades II, Burn Wit’ Me (Señorita ’16), Tropicana, Fuel, and Purple Rain Part II.
[03. THE EAGLE] Over some smooth production (it kinda reminded me of some Kid Cudi). Marley Brooker expresses that whatever he’s interested in, he’s going in on what he wants. Regardless of what other people have to say, Marley Brooker is all about having a good time and experiencing Miami Night Life. During a night out Marley was able to lock down the digits. I find the hook to be extremely catchy.
[05. VERSACE SHADES II] Finding myself having this one on repeat. From Marley’s descriptive lyrics, expressive wordplay, and chill vibe. This track is actually a remix from the first part of OXYS & MAMIS. Marley talks about looking his best wherever he goes, working hard and finding his place. The female voice added on the track really gave a dash of dopeness to it.
[06. BURN WIT’ ME (SEñORITA ’16)] Marley Brooks takes us on a journey of love and lust. Even though the relationship can be rocky with arguments they find a moment where they can unwind and really enjoy the moment. And thats by lighting up one nice blunt. The melodies of the hook were inspired by Puff Daddy’s “Señorita”.
[07. TROPICANA] This track definitely provides that Miami Night Life sound. Marley Brooker talks about the different types of honeys. But he seems to like more the tropicana kind (hispanic). Explaining some of his experiences, and the things they’ll do. During the song Marley really gets melodic.
[08. FUEL] This song reminded me of a 90’s R&B with the sultry female vocals on the track, but Marley Brooks remains sincere on this track. Opening up about his feelings, mentioning someone he knew dying, and relationships.
[15. PURPLE RAIN – PART II] Marley Brooker hits it hard at the end with this heavy hitting club trap track. Getting extremely rowdy, Marley touches topics of using different drugs, listening to Prince, and real late nights in Miami, where your up to no good. The track also features artist SGAYOK.
Marley Brooker is also apart of a music group called Relentless Intent. They stand for bring awareness of issues facing everyday people in these crazy times. Making sure to check things off a list of goals in bringing society together and triumph over evil. According to Marley Brooker he explains, “There’s plenty of things going on that are unspoken that society as a whole turns a blind eye to and I feel like It’s my job to help people wake up, realize these things, and help them contribute to fixing issue’s plaguing society and humanity.” Raw. Riveting. Revolutionary. Are U Relentless?
This concludes my Album Review on Marley Brooker OXYS & MAMIS (DELUXE EDITION). I only mentioned the really stand out tracks but their were more dope tracks. The project was a good listen, make sure you light one up right before. If you’re digging OXYS & MAMIS make sure you support Marley Brooker by following all his links below.

[BRONX, NY] Making his debut on NikkiSiixx.com, we have hip-hop artist Arkadian. With his latest single BOUNCE. Bounce is a trap/club track that discusses the different types of things you like to enjoy. According to Arkadian he says “the struggle that you see around the world in the hoods, not just people of color meaning brown, black, tan, he wants people to see THE STRUGGLE because that is what we all got no matter what level we are at in the world we know today as the land of the free”.
Here’s a little bit of history on Arkadian, he had to get major spine surgery due to fighting for our freedom with the U.S. Army. He had to get eight screws and two 4-inch rods in his back & with the time that heís been recovering and watching how the country he fought for is turning upside down. This inspired him to pick up the pen and write down what he truly felt. This helped him reflect on his life, growing up as a soldier, and chilling in his hood while stationed at Fort Bragg N.C and Fort Hamilton NY.
If you’re diggin’ BOUNCE make sure to listen to it on either Spotify or Tidal! And don’t forget to show your support by following him below:

[CHICAGO, IL] After working over a year to finalize, That Man Santiago has recorded and mixed his latest project Nightlife Fifty-Five at Soundscape Studios. Embracing his environment, the inspiring upcoming artist from Chicago created an honest project on a person’s thoughts before and after hitting the night life in their city. The ambience of Nightlife Fifty-Five definitely provides those night vibes.
According to That Man Santiago “During the length of the tape I travel between thoughts of “turning up” and not worrying about the consequences, to thinking about the repercussions of my actions. The tape touches upon the idea that we are all filled with contradictions; however those contradictions are what help us learn and grow as people.” Now let’s take a chill pill and ride out with my review on That Man Santiago’s project Nightlife Fifty-Five. I’ll be discussing my favorites off the eleven track project. Which are:
[NIGHTLIFE] Where we start off with this track, if feels like you’ve been dancing at the club, already about 2:30am. The music sets a seductive vibe while That Man Santiago sets the mood for his club banger, while he’s talking to the girl he wants to take home.
[SNOW TRACKS] At the beginning of the track we get the weather news report that discuss the heavy snow that we’ll be arriving throughout the night, expected 10 feet of snow. Too cold to go outside and too much snow to deal with. That Man Santiago lets you know what he’s up to on this winter track.
[WHAT DO YOU KNOW] On this track That Man Santiago gets a bit rough when he finds out someone’s talking when they don’t know nothing about him. He’ll laugh it off at the beginning but if it persists he’s going to have to handle his.
[SOME DAYS] I feel that if you’re dealing with a relationship that you find yourself wanting to leave them, fix things, walk away, or stay forever. The emotions of trying to get yourself together and your significant other trying to do the same, but yet the balance may not be right. It’s either work things out or have it all come to an end, but will that day be today?
[OCARINA] At times it feels best to get with the past, with something that’s familiar. But according to time you just can’t. It’s all about moving forward and staying focus. But it seems to be That Man Santiago is getting distracted by Ocarina. I really felt as if she was real, so I had to ask and look what I found out:
NikkiSiixx: Who’s Ocarina?
That Man Santiago: Ocarina is more of a metaphore than a person. Its based of the game “Ocarina of Time” from Zelda lol. In the game, the Ocarina was a flute that could make a person travel through time. In the song, “Ocarina” stands for me wanting to go back in time and fix things I’ve done. But towards the end of the song, during the second verse, I realize that you can’t move forward when you’re chasing the past.
[REASON (BONUS)] This track actually surprised me considering the overall sound from the previous songs. Surprised me in a very good way. I like how diverse That Man Santiago demonstrates he’s styles and how melodic he can become. And what a romantic! This track is meant for the ladies. This would have to be my favorite track off the entire project.
This concludes my project review on Nightlife Fifty-Five with hip-hop artist That Man Santiago. The project exhibits feelings of emotions when it comes to some affairs that take place at night. It’s kinda like people get influence by the night life and dealing with those problems in the morning. I find the project to have a great story to tell and great listens.
[BROOKLYN, NY] Making her debut on NikkiSiixx.com, VIIK brings us her latest visuals to PAPER/PAPER REMIX. The singer/songwriter/producer delivers a mix of electronic, hip-hop, dub reggae and even some trap elements. VIIK goals is to promote semi-conscious lyrics with beats to make you bounce. You definitely have to on this record!
According to VIIK: “Paper” is a satirical yet playful hip-hoppy reggae banger about the power of the “almighty dollar” and the grip it has on society. There’s so much chaos in the world yet we are all distracted by our daily quest for the cash. It keeps a lot of the population from becoming aware and finding their purpose. And on top of that as a human of color, racism and systematic oppression is still alive.
PAPER/PAPER REMIX brings us some funky psychedelic visuals. I really like VIIK goth/edm look with the hot pink dreads, pink eyebrows, and everything leather. Her voice in kind and delivers a powerful message. Its time to get that paper. Follow VIIK via her Twitter Account @VIIK_WORLD and get updated on new content!
[DMV – DC AREA] Ode Tha Hustla goes on his take of POPPIN by Rico Richie and created his own freestyle to it. Ode Tha Hustla embodies the trap lifestyle by presenting the people hating on him cause they don’t got their money situations taken care of and the means of how he earns his money. Throughout the visual you see Ode Tha Hustla counting money, smoking blunts, performing on stage at what looks like Block Party, and seating in the passenger side of a convertible. POPPIN FREESTYLE was shot and edited by the visual Powerhouse @Muhammad_flylee. It was impossible for Ode Tha Hustla to pass on this beat because of how dope it sounded. With Rico Richie’s track he goes in how you need haters to know you’re doing something right. I feel Ode’s is more catchy than Rico’s. Currently, Ode Tha Hustla is working on his mixtape Sellin Dreams which is set to release the first quarter next year (2016). But in the meantime, he set to release his original single title MO MONEY. [LINKS] TWITTER || INSTAGRAM || SOUNDCLOUD ||
[MIAMI, FL] Dashius Clay releases his first official single off his Never A Dull Moment Album, with OH YOU MAD. Dashius Clay has been non-stop with working in between his two last singles “Fuckin Tonight” with Swagg Man and “Guns Go Off” with Stitches. Dope Trap Beat by Jimmy Duval and Mixed/Mastered at MixMasters Studios in Miami. The Red Bearded Artist lets his haters know why they’re mad. Even though they shouldn’t be. I really like how the track slows down by 3:56 and the remaining of the track sounds like a different one. If you’re not mad at Dashius Clay check out his latest track and let him know what you think about it.
[BOSTON, MA] Upcoming Hip-Hop Rapper Chrs Brise released his latest track WALK AMONGST THE DEAD. The very dark post-apocalyptic influenced track with a dash of trap house. Chrs Brise brings this track right before the fall season to fit perfectly for Halloween. WALK AMONGST THE DEAD brings a heavy dark complex theory to provoke our minds. Chrs Brise life experiences bring inspiration for his music. Born and raised in Cleveland Ohio, and residing now in Boston, Massachusetts. The track was produced by Attic Stein. Be on the look out for more content from Chrs Brise.
[PENNSYLVANIA] Check out the latest single from Dubby of Team Loko with MONEY POOLS featuring the Detroit native, Wayne Chapo of Full Time Real (FTR). Inspired by a trap production by Scott Supreme from the UK. Last time we featured Dubby of Team Loko was when I featured his visuals for WELCOME TO THE SHOW, fresh off his Corpus Callosum mixtape. The collaboration between Dubby and Wayne Chapo mend well together. The overall vibe is straight krunk. MONEY POOLS can definitely be played at a club or crazy house party. || TWITTER || SOUNDCLOUD || YOUTUBE || INSTAGRAM ||
This video caught my attention from the beginning based on the old 1980s video games sound at the beginning of the track. The “Bad Habits” beat definitely has a feel that’s a mix between trance and euro-house. That didn’t stop Neak from spitting his bars over it though. He has a flow that it started to come back to the forefront of rap, where seems like you’re spitting your lyrics to yourself almost. As he stands in the grass maneuvering through his verse at a speed that well matches the 115+ bpm speed of the track he seems to spaz in a natural manner.
The dope part is he has true lyrical content all through the song “you will never get by, you will never get on, don’t quit that job”. Neak even went as far as to mention Genghis Khan. He’s currently working on his new project “Paura/Amore” which is due out before the end of 2013. Check out the video for “Bad Habits” below:

Check out the latest beat tape from producer Messy Beatz with Shocked Phuture Vol. 1 His official second release for 2013. These 7 beats go hard with Trap/EDM style that Messy Beatz brings out. Having hard kicks, quick snappy snares, and fast hi hats! I can see this definitely bringing inspiration to artists who would want to write to these beats. The presence of the track is some type of a dark trance, that will keep the listener hypnotize.
Equipment / Weapons Of Choice:
Logic 9, Akai MPC Ren, M-Audio Oxygen Midi Keyboard, Plug-ins, Turntable and stacks of vinyl.
Messy Beatz has been featured on NikkiSiixx.com before. With another beat tape titled Donkey Kong Project. You gotta check it out! A little bit about Messy Beatz, he was born and raised in South London, and has been influenced by Motown, Soul, Hip Hop & Dance / Club classics while growing up.
As electronic dance music, better known as EDM, is on the rise as a global phenomena. So is the fusion of trap music and such electronic music. These two California based brothers are Hippie Sabotage. VACANTS beat tape is their fourth release. This astoundingly perfect fusion of trap and electronic tones will definitely put you in a turnt up mood. Be prepared for big bass, crazy samples, and LOUD drums. One of my favorite audio clips is definitely Flavor Flav’s “Yeaaaaaahhh booooooooooiiiiiiii!”
